Dallas Cowboys vs. San Francisco 49ers: Your Fantasy Forecast Week 2

Dez Bryant will strike fantasy gold this week in Niner country

Article by: Greg Bailey

Looking back at Week One. The Cowboys and JETS were closer than I expected. Rex’s offense was “throw first” after Dallas shut down their running backs. Tony Romo was lights out and in the fourth quarter, he had the Cowboys out. Everyone is killing Romo this week, but the truth is that no other QB (Brady, Manning, Brees) has put up the points and numbers like Romo. Don’t kill Tony’s complete game performance, only criticize the fourth quarter mistake. I even give him credit for trying to make a running play that turned into a turnover. He’s a top 7 QB in the league. The Jets barely got passed the Boys.

Now, we’re on the cusp of a new challenge. And a new challenger: The San Francisco 49ers.  Can Dallas go west and come out with a victory? I think there will be two Cowboys in particular who will strike “Fantasy Gold” this week!

If you are into Fantasy Football, here’s my forecast:

Quarterbacks:

Dal: T. Romo – 325 yds, 3 TDs, 1 Int

SF: A. Smith – 240 yds, 1 TDs, 1 Int

Running Backs:

Dal: F. Jones – 65 rush 0 Tds, 5 / 40 Rec yds, 0 TD

Dal: D. Murray – 20 yds total 0 TDs

SF: F. Gore – 80 rush, 1 TDs, 2 / 10 receiving yds 0 TDs

SF: K. Hunter – 30 Total yards, 0 TDs

Wide Receivers:

Dal: M. Austin – 6 / 75 yds, 1 TD

Dal: D. Bryant – 9 / 110 yds, 1 TD

Dal: J. Witten – 6 / 60 yds, 0 TD

Someone else will get the 3rd TD from Romo

SF: M. Crabtree – 2 / 25 yds 0 TD

SF: B. Edward – 4 / 65 yds 1 TD

SF: V. Davis – 7 / 90, 0 TD

Kickers:

Dal: D. Buehler or D. Bailey 2 FG / 3 XPs

SF: D. Ackers – 1 FG / 2 XPs

This week I find myself with a feeling of, “We let one get away.” I don’t find myself with this attitude this week. I don’t think this will be the same type of game from the 90’s, but will have the determination for the Cowboys to get one notch on the belt.

The Passing game favors Dallas. If Dez is healthy and Romo can shake the mistakes, then the Cowboys will win pretty convincingly. If you were to tell me that I could get both Crabtree and Edwards on my Madden team, then I would be thrilled….but this isn’t Madden. I will stick with Dez, Miles and Witten. – Advantage Dallas

The running attack will feature one of the best hidden talents in the National Football League with Frank Gore. If he can stay healthy, big IF, then he could be a great steal in the draft. Especially when you take him in the 2nd or 3rd round. Hopefully the 3rd. Felix Jones will be throwing blocks and protecting Romo, and Gore will try and churn out some yardage. – Advantage SF

The strongest thing the Cowboys have going for them….receiving. With J, Dez and Miles I don’t see anyone matching their potential. Vernon will get his, Braylon will catch a couple, but I think even with our CBs, Crabtree will disappear like a rose bush exposed to Round Up. – Advantage Dallas

Kickers – Who cares. This usually will add 8 to 10 points in fantasy, but neither look good to me. Advantage Dallas (Dan Bailey)

Final Score: Dallas 27, SF 17

Who is the biggest 49er threat that the Cowboys will have to face on Sunday?
