Dallas Cowboys’ center Phil Costa had one of the worst performances of his short two year career on Monday Night. Maybe one of the worst in NFL history. Against the Washington Redskins, Costa’s snaps to QB Tony Romo were in a word: inconstant. And that’s being nice. Despite winning the game, many Cowboy fans were calling for Costa’s head! But one call he didn’t expect to get was from the very man he replaced. In the preseason Costa replaced veteran and five-time pro bowler Audre Gurode as the Cowboys’ starting center. Gurode was released and bounced around a bit before [...]

1. Can the secondary stop contain Calvin Johnson? Johnson is one of the better receivers in the game; he has 6 TD’s already this season. When the two teams met last season, Johnson had six receptions for less than 50 yards and 1 TD. Shaun Hill was the QB during that game. At 6’5” and 235 pounds, Johnson presents the same problems as Plaxico in week 1, except that Johnson is a way better receiver. Both Newman and Jenkins are 5’10”; both are at least 30 pounds lighter than Johnson. He is too big and too strong to try to [...]
1. Can the Cowboys find a way to effectively run the ball consistently? I was surprised how many ‘analysts’ were celebrating the arrival of the Cowboys running game. Don’t let the two big runs by Jones fool you into thinking the Cowboys have finally found a way to consistently run the ball. The running game still has a long way to go. Even against the Skins, they had 11 runs of 2 yards or less, 1 run of 3 yards, 3 runs of 4 yards, just 6 carries of 6 or 7 yards, and then the 2 long ones of [...]
Practice? We talking about practice? Yes, we are. And specifically about how wideout Dez Bryant sat out of the Dallas Cowboys’ practice today. Bryant evidently aggravated the thigh injury he received back in Week One against the New York Jets. His sitting out of today’s practice is troubling since Dez was able to practice on Wednesday. In a press conference today, Head Coach Jason Garrett addressed the issue: “It’s just him working through the injury. He has that thigh contusion that he was able to work through last week …When you stress it like you do during the course of [...]

Fantasy Forecast: Suh introduces Fairley in a not so Fair way. Lions will Kill the Cowboys.
By Greg Bailey This game features two of the Thanksgiving teams. No rest for these non-turkey eaters. Who would have seen this coming, #1 Lions and #1 (in their division) Cowboys. The Lions have surely been a surprise and if you have Stafford and Johnson,Jr you are sure smiling this season. The one thing about Stafford is he is injury prone, but start this stud QB against the Dallas Secondary. The Dallas defense will certainly sack Stafford a couple times, but look for Stafford to light it up. The Cowboys certainly have their injury woes, but let us not forget….the [...]
One of the great things about working at The Landry Hat, and the Fansided Sports Network, is our access to different experts. Since our network has a site for every NFL team, I’d thought I’d get an insider’s take on the upcoming Dallas Cowboys vs. Detroit Lions Sunday match-up from behind enemy lines. Therefore, I present five questions with the Editor of The SideLion Report, Zac Snyder: 1. Are the Matthew Stafford injury concerns behind him? ZS – I could say yes only to see him go down against the Cowboys or say no only to have him play all [...]
The Final Word On Monday’s Win
It was an ugly, chippy, down-to-the-wire, back-and-forth game that one has come to expect from a NFC East divisional game, especially a Cowboys-Redskins game. While many people were predicting a low-scoring affair, I don’t think anyone would’ve guessed that the sole team to score a touchdown would lose. Regardless, our Cowboys are 2-1, sitting in a tie for first place, and next play another undefeated team before a much-needed bye week. Here’s what we learned from Monday night’s barn-burner:
