If you make it a habit not to watch any Dallas Cowboy preseason games, you should watch tonight’s match against the Vikings.
Referred to as the “dress rehearsal” game, most observers agree that tonight’s scrimmage will be the closest thing you’ll see to a regular season game. Therefore, it is also the best why to judge how the season could play out for Dallas.
Coach Jason Garrett has already stated his desire to play the starters into the third quarter. So there should be plenty for us to speculate on until the season kicks off in a couple weeks.
Here are a few things to keep your eye on during tonight’s game.
- The debut of rookie running back DeMarco Murray and the return of Tashard Choice, both delayed by injury.
- The kicker competition that is in full swing between incumbent starter David Buehler, rookie Dan Bailey and recent veteran signing Shayne Graham.
- The play of our young offensive line, especially rookie tackle Tyron Smith.
- And the results of Rob Ryan’s new defensive schemes.
Not all the starters made the trip to Minnesota. Don’t expect to see any of these player’s tonight: Miles Austin (hamstring), Terence Newman (groin), Mike Jenkins (stinger) and Marcus Spears (groin).
Tonight’s game starts at 7:00p.m.(CST) and will be airing in and around the Dallas area on NBC. The game will also re-air on Monday night, August 29th, at 8:00p.m.(EST) on the NFL Network.
