Dallas Cowboys Training Camp Will Begin on Wednesday
According to numerous reports, negotiations on a new CBA ran late into last night and all signs point towards a deal. Today the NFLPA Executive Committee will vote on the deal and will almost certainly approve it. Basically, the rest of this is all formality. The players will approve the deal and we will have football this week. By the end of the week, the Cowboys will probably look a lot different. Whatever happens, you can bet that TLH will have an opinion. As far as the ‘Boys, they will report to camp on Wednesday with the first practice taking [...]
Dallas Cowboys’ Sentimental Sunday
It’s Sunday afternoon. There’s no football. Why not spend the next five minute and fifty seconds watching a sappy photographic tribute to The Triplets? Just make sure you have a Kleenex or two available.
NFL lockout will end this week….hopefully
The NFL is like a soap opera and we are all extremely addicted. For months, we haven’t been able to watch a single episode, but starting next Saturday they are going to run a two week long, 24/7, NFL marathon and it will all be new programming. It might be more than is realistically safe to handle, but I’m willing to take that risk.
Well, we are still in a holding pattern with the CBA negotiations. I know, it’s shocking. Thus, there isn’t much to report. However, everything is okay you football junkies. I give you The Landry Hat’s Youtube Saturday. Enjoy! Nobody does highlight tape music like Journey.
Aikman to Harper
I was not alive when the Cowboys won their first two Super Bowls, and, for most of my formative years they weren’t that great. Meanwhile, the San Francisco 49ers were the best, seemingly unbeatable. I can remember prior to ’92 season, SI ran a cover that predicted that the Cowboys would be the team of the 90′s, and, while that was exciting to see, it still seemed slightly farfetched. Beating the Niners and becoming the class of the league kind of felt like a pipe dream. All of that changed with Aikman to Harper.
Is HGH Testing an Important Part of the New NFL CBA?
In any sport, players will try to cheat the system. If measures aren’t taken to prevent whatever cheating takes place, then it will become rampant. Obviously, what I’m mostly talking about is PEDs. There is no telling when the steroids were first used in the NFL (’70s?), but the NFL has been at the forefront of doing what it can to prevent steroid use among its players. The NFL began drug testing in 1987. That’s part of the reason why it was able to avoid the problems that MLB has faced. Baseball didn’t start drug testing until almost twenty years [...]
Punter Contempt
I am big fan of Mat McBriar. The Australian is great at his job, and, perhaps more importantly, he keeps his mouth shut. However, if he ever started calling out other players like Kluwe did, I imagine that I wouldn’t really like McBriar anymore. There is nothing worse than a mouthy punter — not even a mouthy place kicker.
NFL Owners Approve New CBA (Updated)
Updated: According to Pro Football Talk, this deal is far from over. In an e-mail to the players, De Smith said that the deal the owners ratified differs from what was negotiated. So, back at square one…again. More to come… Finally, we have some tangible progress in the NFL labor negotiations. The owners voted 31-0 today in approval of the new CBA. Not surprisingly, Al Davis abstained from the vote. That’s probably because he’s not actually alive. Also, rumor has that this deal has a “Jerry Clause”, which allows for some cap leniency for overpriced veterans. Part of the agreement [...]
Possible Cowboy steals for your Fantasy Football Draft
With the end of the NFL lockout looming, Fantasy Football excitement levels are cranking up for many owners in preparation for their upcoming drafts. And with names like Romo, Witten, and Austin peppering the first few rounds, the Dallas Cowboys are always well represented. But this year, there are also some possible draft steals to be had among those who wear the beloved star. The Cowboy’s Defense – Currently ranked as high as 9th on various Fantasy Football rankings, the Dallas Defense could be a possible steal in the middle rounds of your draft. Last years’ defense ranked 2nd overall [...]
Lett Returns To Help Coach D-Line
Former Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman Leon Lett has returned to the Cowboys as part of the NFL Minority Coaching Fellowship Program. Lett returns to help coach Brian Baker with the defensive line during training camp. Lett played 10 season with the Dallas Cowboys where he helped them win 3 Super Bowls. Lett was remembered during his career for his strong presence but also for two very bone headed plays. In 1993 on Thanksgiving Day, Lett touched a live football after a blocked field goal attempt by the the Miami Dolphins, the Dolphins recovered the football and kicked the field goal again and were [...]
