Are the Cowboys close to signing Abram Elam?

The Cowboys and safety Abram Elam have been a rumored pairing all week. To be honest, I expected Elam to be signed already, but there might be a disconnect on money. According to Elam’s twitter feed, he has been on the phone with Rob Ryan lately and he essentially said that lack of payment is the only thing that is currently preventing him from being a Cowboy.

I still expect this deal to happen, but the Cowboys need to be careful that someone doesn’t swoop in and steal Elam. The are fewer available safeties every day and they still need to sign two. They pretty much have to get Elam. And Gerald Sensabaugh is also becoming a more attractive option. This could be resolved today.
