Cowboys 1st round pick Tyron Smith will join teammates during the next round of team ran workouts, his agent says. Smith who was selected out of USC with the 9th pick, called Cowboys Quarterback Tony Romo for information about the workouts and the undisclosed location where the workouts are being held. “Tyron has been in touch with Tony and he’ll be there for the next workouts,” agent Joe Panos said.
Smith who became the 1st offensive lineman selected in the 1st round during the Jerry Jones era, is seen as an immediate starter for the Cowboys next season. Smith also has the potential to be a very good left tackle for the Cowboys for years to come. Smith’s agent Panos who is a former Philadelphia Eagles has been working with Smith on a very tough workout regiment, that includes strength and condition and play book study.
Although Smith has been working with his agent and keeping in football shape, it is still nice to see Smith joining his teammates in these workouts. As Roy Williams said this week the lockout hurts the teams ability to gel but team workouts such as the ones the Cowboys are running can help with the gelling process a little. Smith as a rookie needs to make every attempt to be there with his teammates participating in activities. We saw the reputation the last year’s 1st round pick Dez Bryant got during training camp last season, we don’t want Tyron Smith to get that same reputation by not being at these workouts. Though they are not mandatory it is still nice to see him there.
