Dez Bryant Lacks Financial Accounting Skills – Anyone Surprised?

Bryant is not the only professional athlete to have an entourage and make frequent retail purchases.  He is the only athlete to have his purchases of jewelery and shoes come into question during the lockout.  It is obvious that Bryant needs some assistance with his finances.  Jerry Jones will have to assume the Mr. Drummond role and place Bryant under his wing.  Jones has previously taken a prominent role in Adam Jones’ finances during the 2008 NFL season.

Without a doubt, it is better that Bryant’s financial woes are unearthed early in his career rather than alternative.  Bryant is a terrific athlete, but he does not appear to as articulate as many former Cowboys who have joined the media (Don Meredith, Troy Aikman, Micheal Irvin, Daryl Johnston, Deion Sanders, or Emmit Smith).

Bryant was an education major at OSU.  Hopefully he will recognize the importance of becoming educated regarding his finances so he is not simply a footnote in the big book of athletes who work a full-time job after retirement – because they have to, not because they want to.
