2011 NFL Draft: Mel Kiper, Jr. Releases Post-Combine Big Board

by Cowboys

ESPN draft guru Mel Kiper, Jr. released his first big board since the end of the 2011 NFL Scouting Combine. On today’s SportsCenter, a graphic was shown that included the top ten rated players by Kiper. Included in Kiper’s top ten is a lone linebacker, one receiver, two cornerbacks, two quarterbacks and four defensive linemen.

The Cowboys have the number nine overall pick, so they will be able to snag one of the top rated players. All players, minus the quarterbacks, have the ability to make an immediate impact in the NFL. Most mock drafts have the Cowboys selecting Prince Amukamara with their first round pick. Amukamara is a future star and he has the versatility to play safety or corner for the Cowboys.

Drafting a cornerback would also give Dallas the option to release Terrence Newman and open up some space under the salary cap.

Another great option for Dallas would be linebacker Von Miller. A slide for Miller is possible, due to linebackers generally not going high in the draft. Miller has said before that he would like to stay in Texas and having him line up across from DeMarcus Ware would provide a deadly pass rush for years to come.

Which of Mel Kiper’s top ten players would you like to see represent the star next season?

Thanks a lot for shairng this info and great point...

I dont think Releasing newman saves that much this year. In fact the only player that would give us some real cap space is Barber...the rest of the guys are mostly all base salary..and all others like ROy would kick in escalators...we dont need that.

I believe if Marcel Dareus is available, that would be a steal. Love Von Miller opposite DeMarcus Ware and to me Robert Quinn would help more than the Prince. Love Dareus though. big, fast and tough

good point. nice one. thank you

Im no expert and god knows nobody ever gets these things right lol but I would love to see Jerry Jones show that he has a pair and trade up to get the standout shutdown corner known as Patrick Peterson!!!! Or maybe stay at the 9 spot and draft Marcel Dareus
