The Cowboys finished there season 6-10 and out of the playoffs, however according to buisnessinsider.com the Cowboys still had the highest attendance of anyone in the league. This season attendance in the NFL was down 0.8% from last season however the Cowboys averaged 1.28 million fans (home+away) that is 84,217 more than the Redskins who are 2nd in attendance and 366,778 more than the last place Rams. It didn’t take long for Wade Phillips to recover from his failure as the Dallas Cowboys head coach. The AFC South’s Houston Texans hired Phillips today to become the team’s third defensive coordinator under current head coach Gary Kubiak. The Texans, like the Cowboys, had an atrocious secondary and defense. They will be praying for a miracle that Phillips will be able to do in Houston what he couldn’t in Dallas. With the expected announcement of Jason Garrett becoming the head coach seemingly right around the corner, more and more rumors are beginning to circulate about the supporting coaching staff for next season. Reports surfaced earlier today that Garrett would be interested in Wisconsin’s Paul Chryst as offensive coordinator and now there is speculation regarding the team’s next defensive coordinator. Cowboys cornerback Orlando Scandrick is set to undergo surgery in a week to fix his left index finger. Scandrick initially injured his finger in OTA’s last May after deflecting a pass by backup quarterback Jon Kitna. He played the entire season — which he finished with one interception and 2.5 sacks – with a splint on the injured finger. It is nice that Scandrick will go ahead and finally get the surgery he needs to fully recover. Unfortunately for Scandrick and the Cowboys fans, he is not undergoing surgery to fix all the times he was burned this season.

Wisconsin Badgers offensive coordinator Paul Chryst has been sought after by the University of Texas this offseason. Not only do the Longhorns have interest in Chryst, but so do the Dallas Cowboys. All signs point to the Cowboys removing Jason Garrett’s interim tag, which would start the search for his staff.
