The Cowboys could be ready to name a new defensive coordinator by weeks end according to team sources. Calvin Watkins ESPNDallas.com reported that the Cowboys have already intreviewed Stanford Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio and are suppose to interview San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Greg Manusky sometime this week. The Cowboys also interviews Todd Bowles but he is still under contract from the Dolphins so him joining the Cowboys may not happen. The Dallas Cowboys are sitting pretty at number nine overall in the upcoming NFL Draft. Dallas will have their pick out of many of the top players, but one guy, Nick Fairley, who fans were hoping to target is now likely out of their range after his monster game in the BCS National Championship. While Jason Garrett was announced as the next head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, his older brother John, the Cowboys tight ends coach, could be on his way out of Valley Ranch. John Garrett is on the list of candidates the Miami Dolphins are interested in to fill the vacant offensive coordinator position that opened when former OC Dan Henning retired. The Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland and head coach Tony Sporano have worked with John during their time with the Cowboys.

There is always criticism when it comes to Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. People say that Jones is a control freak and he wants a head coach that he can puppet. Days after hiring former Cowboys coach Wade Phillips as their new Defensive Coordinator, the Houston Texans have asked the Cowboys permisson to interview their Linebackers coach Reggie Herring. Although the Cowboys have not granted permisson to the Texans he will proably end up being interviewed eventually. Herring was the Linebackers coach from 2002-2003 for the Houston Texans, before going to NC State and being their Defensive Coordinator, he also worked at Arkansas as a Defensive Coordinator before joining the Cowboys and working under Phillips.

A press conference was held at 2:30 pm ET this afternoon to officially introduce Jason Garrett as the next head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. Here is the video:
