Cowboys Could Have New Defensive Coordinator By End Of Week

The Cowboys could be ready to name a new defensive coordinator by weeks end according to team sources. Calvin Watkins ESPNDallas.com reported that the Cowboys have already intreviewed Stanford Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio and are suppose to interview San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Greg Manusky sometime this week. The Cowboys also interviews Todd Bowles but he is still under contract from the Dolphins so him joining the Cowboys may not happen. Dave Wannstedt name has also been metioned as a poosible choice to take over the Cowboys Defensive coordinator’s job, he has been on the Cowboys staff before.

Now Wade Phillips tried to hire Manusky away from the San Diego Chargers in 2007 but that attempt was unsuccessful. Manusky could also be out of a job in San Fran as Fangio may be coming in to join new head coach Jim Harbaugh. Both Coordinators have NFL experience as Fangio as he was DC for the Panthers, Colts and Texans and was assisstant to the Head Coach in Baltimore where the Ravens were top three in defense 3 of his 4 years there.

It sounds like Garrett is getting ready to make his first hire as head coach. We will of course keep you updated on the hiring. However who do you all want running the defensive?
