Houston Texans Hire Former Cowboys Coach Wade Phillips

It didn’t take long for Wade Phillips to recover from his failure as the Dallas Cowboys head coach. The AFC South’s Houston Texans hired Phillips today to become the team’s third defensive coordinator under current head coach Gary Kubiak. The Texans, like the Cowboys, had an atrocious secondary and defense. They will be praying for a miracle that Phillips will be able to do in Houston what he couldn’t in Dallas.

An interesting thing to follow with the hiring of Phillips will be the defensive scheme of the Texans. They have primarily been a 4-3 team and Phillips has made his name with the 3-4 defense. Houston has the talent to play the 4-3, so a change in scheme would require a drastic overhaul on the roster. Best of luck on that one.

Houston, he’s now your problem.
