IRVING, Texas – By rule, Jerry Jones must spend a legitimate amount of time conducting a coaching search, during which Cowboys interim boss Jason Garrett will be allowed to interview for other head coaching jobs in the league, the owner said Monday.

Jon Kitna will be the starting quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys in their finale against the Eagles on Sunday if his strained abdominal muscle heals enough. It’s not likely, though, so second-year backup Stephen McGee probably will make his first career start in the 4:15 p.m. game at Lincoln Financial Field.

IRVING, Texas — Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said Monday he doesn’t have a timetable on naming his next coach but plans on speaking with current wide receivers coach Ray Sherman and another candidate to fulfill the league’s policy regarding minority hires.

Jason Garrett’s final audition for the Dallas Cowboys’ head coaching job comes Sunday against Philadelphia. But he said he doesn’t even think about that. The Cowboys are 4-3 under under Garrett, who replaced Wade Phillips after their 1-7 start.
