The Dallas Cowboys defeated the Detroit Lions 35-19 after the team rallied around backup quarterback Jon Kitna in the second half. Every game there are standout players and those who are deserving of a special honor. NFL teams will often give out game balls in the locker room following the game to acknowledge the players who had spectacular performances throughout the game.
After today’s game, I came up with two players I deem worry of receiving game balls. Who earned the right to be called a game ball winner for Week 11?
Bryan McCann: The rookie cornerback has done nothing but excite fans since he has got a chance to get on the field. Last week, McCann intercepted Eli Manning and trotted 101-yards for the touchdown, which was a franchise record. McCann continued to make plays this week when he bolted 97-yards to paydirt on a punt return. The punt return sparked the Cowboys offense. McCann also tallied 55 yards on kick returns and had one solo tackle.
Jon Kitna: Kitna was responsible for three second half touchdowns. The 38-year-old has really established himself as a leader on and off of the football field. You can see that the team responds well to him and they continue to rally around him. Kitna found Miles Austin in the endzone twice in the second half and also called his own number with a 29-yard scamper to the endzone. Kitna added the three second half scores to his first quarter touchdown pass to rookie Dez Bryant. Kitna finished the night with 187 total yards and four touchdowns.
