Eagles quarterback Michael Vick is one of the hot stories in the NFL this season. He is playing better than he ever has in his career and he has the Eagles flying high and looking like a NFC favorite. How will the real Vick’s success translate to the “cyber-Vick?”
Entering the week, Michael Vick sits at an 87 overall rating compared to the 73 overall he had when the season started. After one of the greatest performances by a quarterback in NFL regular season history, how ridiculous will Madden and EA Sports get with their ratings jump? Some people are suggesting Vick should jump to a 99 overall… that is absurd.
Not only would the rating be undeserving, but imagine how many people will be using the “Michael Vick cheese” online.
A reasonable jump for the Eagles QB would be to a 93 or 94 overall. To give Michael Vick a perfect rating would not only be a complete overreaction of his performance this past week, but it would also do a disservice to the highly heralded 99 overall. Few players can reach that rating, so to jump Vick up to a perfect rating due to one good week is unacceptable.
In the end, the cyber Vick will not win games for Philadelphia. It’s all up to the real man. Will he be able to keep up this superman season or will he finally fall back to Earth? The Cowboys play the Eagles two times in the last month of the season, so let’s hope that Super Vick finds his krptonite.
