Jason Garrett Fails His First Test As Cowboys Head Coach

Interim head coach Jason Garrett talked the talk all week. He had a vision of bringing a sense of accountability and discipline to the team. How did it work out? Terrible.

In his first test as a man of power, Garrett let Marion Barber get away with a blatant disregard for team rules. Garrett said that players were required to wear a sports coat, slacks, tie, and tucked in shirt. Barber showed up for the team flight in jeans and an untucked shirt.

Garrett had the opportunity to punish his starting running back and show that there will be no special treatment in the new regime. Instead, he opted to sit Barber for the first play of the game and then immediately insert him to the line-up. Pathetic.

The new leading man immediately showed that he is just as soft as Wade Phillips. You can’t talk tough all week and then let a team captain ignore your rules. You have to SHOW the team that you are in control. Garrett failed to do that.
