Let me start off by saying that these are strictly RUMORS. However, where there is smoke, there is usually fire.
We all have heard about Jerry Jones’ little trip to Vegas by now, but there is a report that has not received as much attention. After Jones’ trip to Vegas, sources have said the Cowboys owner flew on his private jet to Tuscaloosa to visit Alabama head coach Nick Saban.
Per the sources, Jones was putting out a feeler to see if Saban would be interested in coaching the Cowboys next season. Saban is a guy who has been lured to the NFL before, so any effort by Jerry is worth a shot.
Another name floating around the rumor mill as a potential head coach for Dallas next season is New York Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell. That is a rumor that will surely not sit well with the Giants faithful. NBC’s Chris Collinsworth as well as multiple media sources in Dallas have named Fewell as a candidate for the coaching gig in 2011.
When asked about the rumors yesterday, Fewell claimed that they were news to him.
“I’m just trying to keep the job I’ve got right now. I just think it’s a reflection if the way the kids have been playing the defense,” said Fewell.
As much as Giants fans would hate to see Fewell leave the team, the Giants players would hate it just as much.
“We’re going to keep Perry for a little while here. If anybody asks me if Perry is going to be a good coaching candidate, I’m going to say ‘No,’ ” Tuck said.
Antrel Rolle continued with the praise, “I don’t even want to hear that right now. . . . He’s been great all year.”
