Cowboys Place Two On IR; Add Defensive Line Depth

It was expected that starting defensive end Marcus Spears would be placed on the injured reserve list by the Dallas Cowboys after suffering a torn calf in this past weekend’s game to the Green Bay Packers. The news that we all knew was coming was made official today.

Also placed on injured reserve was rookie safety and kick return Akwasi Owusu-Ansah. Owusu-Ansah suffered a high ankle sprain and expected to be available for the final month of the season, however, the coaching staff had some other plans.

The two moves left Dallas with openings on the roster. As a result, the Cowboys bolstered their defensive line depth by adding defensive ends Jeremy Clark and Jimmy Saddler-McQueen. Both Clark and Saddler-McQueen began practicing today and could see some action this weekend due to Jason Hatcher and Sean Lissemore being limited by injury.

Stephen Bowen is expected to take over Marcus Spears’ starting spot opposite of Igor Olshansky.
