The NFC East Landscape and the Cowboys
Watching the way teams play against the Dallas Cowboys versus the way they play against the remainder of the NFC East is puzzling and frustrating. Jay Cutler throws four interceptions against the Redskins, but looks like the second coming of Kurt Warner against the Cowboys. While the Titans beat the Eagles, with Kerry Collins in for Vince Young, the game was much closer than the final score of 37 to 19. Amazingly, the Titans scored 27 unanswered fourth quarter points, but they did a favor for the Cowboys by bringing the Eagles back to the pack. Nonetheless, the Eagles and [...]
Tony Romo: ‘I Have To Do A Better Job’
Starting quarterback Tony Romo is often criticized for his turnover filled games. While Romo is not solely to blame for the Cowboys early struggles in 2010, his five interceptions in the last two weeks has certainly contributed to the losses. Fans and media members are not the only ones recognizing that Romo needs to take care of the ball more than ever, Romo himself has commented on the situation. “The good news is there’s not a trend in making poor decisions,” Romo said. “Now, the ball is getting intercepted and we have to correct that. I have to do a [...]

Jerry Jones Lays Down The Law
With 5 of the Cowboys remaining games coming against NFC East rivals, they are definitely still alive in the 2010 playoff race. Many are counting the Cowboys out and looking ahead to the 2011 NFL Draft, but I refuse to do that and it seems that team owner Jerry Jones believes the same. Jones had a meeting with the team today and wasn’t his normal self. This time, Jones was exactly what the team needed and he came in with a stern approach and message. “Actually, put up or shut up,” Cowboys Pro-Bowl linebacker DeMarcus Ware said. “That’s what I [...]
Cowboys Have Dug Themselves Into an Opportunity
What’s the greatest comeback of all time? The Drive, the Bills overcoming a 32 point deficit over the Oilers, the Jets comeback win against the Dolphins on Monday Night Football in 2000? Does it matter? Each of those games are incredibly memorable because of the circumstances the teams found themselves in. Certainly you can say there were self inflicted wounds in each game and the teams did not play up to their potential early. The Dallas Cowboys find themselves in a hole. Their record is 1-4 placing them at near the bottom of the league. They are still the same team [...]
NFL Practices CYA… WTF?
Apparently it was not Miles Austin‘s feat of athleticism which drew the 15 yard unsportsmanlike penalty during Roy Williams‘s post touchdown celebration. It was Sam Hurd. What did Hurd do exactly? Did he go down to the ground and breakdance… doing the worm maybe? Did he mime mooning the Vikings crowd in deference to Randy Moss? Nope. he raised his right hand and gave the hand signal for the Texas Longhorns a little too close to Roy Williams. Really? NFL = No Fun League. No, it really stands for no “f#$% common sense” league. Yes the NFL has legislated out [...]
Trade Tony Romo Today!!!
The trading deadline for the NFL is Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at 5p.m. eastern. Tony Romo has had a subpar year this year. Last year he had a career low 9 interceptions. In five games, Romo has seven interceptions. Worse yet, he has lead the Cowboys to a 1-4 record when the team had Super Bowl expectations. Who would want Romo? Certainly there are a variety of teams who do not have a legitimate quarterback in place: Buffalo, Cleveland, Jacksonville, Oakland, Carolina, or Arizona. Some of the teams have competent players manning the quarterback position, but Romo has play making ability [...]
Goodbye Bandwagon Fans
“True” Cowboys fans always complain about the bandwagon. It’s often crowded, full of unwashed and undereducated fellows. Well, welcome to the 2010 version. Roomier, with more luggage space, and is that a hint of vanilla in the air. It sure beat BO. Now the fans calling for Wade Phillips’s head are undoubtedly true Cowboys fans. As always bandwagoners, please watch your step as you jump across to Patriots’s or the Jet’s wagon. Also, please remember your commemorative t-shirt printed in the Cowboys colors of silver and blue: Proud Bandwagon, Dallas TX, & Cowboys Fan
Jenkins Ignorant of Rule – Autopsy of the Play
After the Vikings game, Mike Jenkins indicated regarding the pass interference called against him in the fourth quarter, ”It was [expletive], that’s what I think it is,” Jenkins said. “They’ve got the 5-yard rule. They need to look at the receivers more.” He further stated, ”I’m not gonna change…” Jenkins is correct. The NFL allows for the cornerback to have contact with the wide receiver within the first five yards of the line of scrimmage. The cornerback is not allowed to hold onto to WR’s jersey or arms and throw the WR to the ground. That would be holding and is a [...]
The Cowboys Have an Identity – Just One We Don’t Like
Bill Parcells is famous for saying, “You are what your record is.” This Dallas Cowboys team is 1-4 and they have played like a 1-4 team. They are most notable for heartbreaking penalties including overzealous touchdown celebrations, turnovers, poor special teams, and compiling yards without points. Dennis Green would say, “They are who we thought they were.” We all know who this team is, but we were hoping they would change their stripes. Just like a cheating lover or a drunken friend, we hope for the best, but find that the change necessary is simply not there. That change of course, [...]
