Three Thoughts Regarding Chargers v. Chiefs
1. Maybe Norv Turner is fired as head coach of the San Diego Chargers and he will return home to be the offensive coordinator for the Cowboys. The Chargers and Cowboys run the same offensive system, and he was the original offensive genius for the Cowboys during their run in the 90′s. 2. Did anyone listen to the Chiefs fans? That was a commendable 12th man effort. The Cowboys can fit 100,000 fans into Cowboys Stadium and you can hear crickets. Cowboys fans who attend the game have to raise their level of intensity on more than 3rd down. Support [...]
Following Alex Barron’s pathetic performance on Sunday night, fans and many players on the Cowboys were left to wonder what would happen with their depleted offensive line. Both Kyle Kosier and Marc Colombo were out due to injury and their lack of presence was what did the Cowboys in yesterday. With the heartbreak and anger over the loss starting to leave everyone’s heart and mind, there is now some hint of optimism behind the doors. It is being said that both Colombo and Kosier will likely be ready to go next week when Dallas plays their home opener against the [...]
Players React To Sundays Loss
Which 0-1 Team Should Worry?
The Dallas Cowboys loss to the Redskins has sent most of the fan base into panic mode. How could they not kneel the ball before the half, how can we move forward with David Buehler, Alex Barron is the worst tackle we have ever seen play, etc. The fact of the matter is that the Cowboys will have Colombo and Kosier back against the Bears. Buehler will either straighten up or a veteran will come in to handle kicks within 40 yards. Matt Stover is still available and so is Mike Vanderjagt (so things could be better or vastly worse). [...]
Roy Williams Robbed of Moment by Barron
With all the dismay of starting 0-1 and having to safely plan your Alex Barron effigy burning party, let’s not forget Roy Williams MADE the catch that would have won the game. While his receiving line isn’t impressive, 3 catches for 21 yards, the first catch was in traffic while being close lined by a Redskins defender. Without the penalty, Roy Williams is on his way to rehabbing his image in Dallas. With the penalty, it was a catch that every professional WR should make and it wasn’t even an athletic play. For the time being, maybe we all can ease up [...]
It is obvious that Jason Garrett had little faith in the reconstructed offensive line. Quick passes and outside runs dominated the Cowboys play calling against the Washington Redskins. Mental errors plagued the Cowboys throughout the entire game ranging from the coaching staff, to the players, and the biggest mental mistake was believing the offensive line had sufficient depth prior to the start of the season. This was a team effort to lose the game. David Buehler made two special teams tackles (which isn’t good since the returner has passed a majority of the Cowboys defenders) and missed what many would [...]
1st Half Analysis v. Redskins
It’s obvious the game plan against the Redskins is to hide Holland and Barron. The biggest play of the game is all on Wade Phillips. It was his decision to try a miracle drive when the Cowboys should have called it a half, and decided to regroup. A 3 point deficit is manageable, so is a 10 point deficit. What may not be manageable is the momentum and confidence the Redskins gain. Play calling has little to do with the decision making at the end of the half, so Garrett gets a pass. A few other side notes: 1. McNabb was [...]
Cowboys Trail 10-0 At Halftime
Dallas started off the 2010 season with an impressive drive that stalled when Jason Garrett decided to throw two consecutive passes to Dez Bryant behind the line of scrimmage followed by a quick pass to Roy Williams. None of the plays converted and the Cowboys were forced to punt as the wind was taken out of the offenses sails early. McNabb then took his first drive with the Redskins and seemed to look like the McNabb of old as he showed his scrambling ability and took Washington down the field for 29-yard field goal by Graham Gano. Dallas continued to [...]
Cowboys’ Inactives Vs. Washington
It comes as no surprise that the Dallas Cowboys will play tonight’s game vs. Washington without starting offensive linemen Marc Colombo and Kyle Kosier. Both have been out since mid-August, but appear to be back on track for the team’s home opener. Other inactives include defensive lineman Sean Lissemore, linebackers Brandon Williams and Kyle Williams , safety Barry Church and offensive tackle Sam Young. Washington’s inactives are tight end Logan Paulsen, wide receiver Brandon Banks, safety Kareem Moore, linebacker Perry Riley, offensive lineman Will Montgomery and defensive ilneman Anthony Bryant and Jeremy Jarmon.
10 Things to Watch for V. Redskins
There are so many individual battles to consider. Rather than listing each, let’s focus on the big picture. 1. Special Teams: At the beginning of every season there are at least 2 games that are determined by special teams. The explanation given by commentators is that there isn’t enough time spent on special teams in practice and you have more defensive starters assuming roles they did not have to perform when the rosters were larger. Personally, I believe the game speed increases and some players are unprepared. In what could be a close game against Washington, a punt return, kick [...]
