David Buehler Struggles Again… This Time In Practice

It is no secret that the Cowboys have a severe need at kicker. Jerry Jones has said on more than one occasion that he will not make an immediate change at kicker, but his patience — like that of the fans — has to be wearing thin.

Buehler has missed two of his four field goal attempts this season and he has done his fair share to hurt the Cowboys chances in the first two games of the season.

His performance did not get any better in Wednesday’s practice as he attempted five field goals between 23 yards and 40. Good news for fans: he hit the first one right down the center of the uprights. Bad news: he then went on to miss the next four in a row wide right.

While it is just practice, it’s clear that the concern is more than just that. It is a reality that Buehler just isn’t cut out to be more than a kick-off specialist. He’s got a cannon of a leg, but can’t hit the broad side of a barn.

As the season progresses and the Cowboys hopefully work their way back to the top of the NFC, let us all pray that we will have another man attempting crucial field goals down the stretch.
