1st Half Analysis v. Redskins

It’s obvious the game plan against the Redskins is to hide Holland and Barron.

The biggest play of the game is all on Wade Phillips.  It was his decision to try a miracle drive when the Cowboys should have called it a half, and decided to regroup.  A 3 point deficit is manageable, so is a 10 point deficit.  What may not be manageable is the momentum and confidence the Redskins gain.  Play calling has little to do with the decision making at the end of the half, so Garrett gets a pass.

A few other side notes:

1.  McNabb was passed the line of scrimmage during the 3rd down incompletion.  It wasn’t called and it could have been a pivotal moment in the game.

2.  The Cowboys were completely confused defensively early in the game.  They have made adjustments and have played well since.

3.  Certainly the quick passes to the wing WR’s have been in response to the questions regarding protection.  Hopefully Garrett is setting the Redskin’s CB’s for a fake pump to the wing, and a subsequent deep pass.

4.  It won’t be said in the game, but you can attribute the end of the half shenanigans to Buehler.  The Cowboys may have considered a 60 yard FG because of his monster leg.
