Dez Buys Dinner for Teammates – No One Orders Off the Dollar Value Menu

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

It was presumed when Dez Bryant refused to carry Roy Williams‘s shoulder pads during training camp, that the rookie would be hazed in a variety of other ways.  On Monday, Bryant paid for many of his teammates’ dinner at Pappas Bros. Steakhouse.  The Bill was estimated between $54,000 and $55,000.  But give credit to Bryant, he stated that he his previous efforts (buying a copy of Madden 11 for himself and Roy Williams as well as buying all of the receiving staff Air Jordan Olympic 7s) were his effort to build camaraderie among his teammates. Bryant resists hazing while concurrently making every [...]

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: Comments Off

Not only did the Cowboys earn their first win of the season this past Sunday in Houston, but outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware was rewarded for his efforts by being named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week. Ware scored three sacks in the game as he punished Texans quarterback Matt Schaub throughout the day. It was the fifth time in Ware’s career that he had a three sack game. Here are some other stats that show Ware’s success — courtesy of ESPNDallas.com: Ware is now tied with Randy White for the third-most multi-sack games in Cowboys history with 14. Greg [...]

Is An 18-game Regular Season Necessary?

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

It has long been a discussion among members of the NFL’s competition committee and other high ranking league officials to expand the NFL regular season from 16 to 18 games. The idea seemed to be far from coming to fruition until today when Indianapolis Colts GM Bill Polian spoke on the radio Monday night. Polian called the idea of an expanded season “fait accompli” — a done deal. The plan would reduce the preseason to two games and the regular season to 18. Many are concerned that a shortened preseason will reduce time to evaluate players, while an expanded regular [...]

Dez Bryant Has Fractured Ribs

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: Comments Off

Dez Bryant continues to make his impact felt. The rookie wideout has had fans salivating at the glimpses of his star potential. Bryant added four catches for 50-yards in the Cowboys win against Houston, however, his performance is more impressive than the numbers indicate. Bryant played Sunday’s game in Houston with a stress fracture in his ribs. He was originally injured in the Cowboys season opener against Washington and then aggravated the injury in the loss to the Bears. The Cowboys bye week will help Bryant get the rest he needs — along with starters Jason Witten and Kyle Kosier. [...]

Everyone was happy to see Dallas notch their first victory of 2010, but before we all get too excited, it is important to remember that this was only one win. We finally got a glimpse of the potential this offense has and with the breakout of Roy Williams and Dez Bryant continuing to make his impact felt, the fan base does have a lot to look forward to as the season progresses. “But we have to realize it was only one win,” head coach Wade Phillips said. “We are still only 1-2.” With the good comes the bad. The Cowboys [...]

Witten Suffers Sprained MCL; Expected To Play Against Titans

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: Comments Off

Jason Witten was on the receiving end of seven Tony Romo passes before he suffered a sprained MCL during the Cowboys victory. There is no word on whether Witten will be able to practice throughout the week, but he is expected to be ready for the Cowboys next game against the Titans — following the team’s bye week. Starting left guard Kyle Kosier also sprained his MCL. It is the second time this season that Kosier sprained his right knee, but he does not expect to miss any games. Head coach Wade Phillips is not as positive that Kosier will [...]

He tied his father, Bum Phillips, with 82 career victories. Wade’s record as a head coach is 82-56, while his father tallied a head coaching record of 82-77. “It proves I’ve been in it a long time.
