John Phillips Injures Knee – Will undergo MRI

In last night’s pre-season game, John Phillips, 2nd year tight end, injured his knee.  Initially it was feared to be an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear, but reports indicate that it may have simply been severely sprained.  Phillips will undergo an MRI this morning to confirm the exact status of his knee.

If Phillips were to miss the remainder of the season, Scott Sicko and Kevin Brock are presently on the roster.  You may recall that Sicko elected to not sign as an undrafted free agent after not being drafted.  He subsequently was courted by the Cowboys and signed a free agent contract.

Phillips was impressive in limited action during the 2009 season and equally so in the first pre-season game against the Bengals.  He was so impressive that this writer indicated that Martellus Bennett was expendable.  Recover quickly John, recover quickly.
