It is widely expected that Cowboys rookie wide receiver Dez Bryant will miss the first few days of training camp while his contract is finalized. However, the first-round pick’s agent Eugene Parker is hopeful that the deal will be done very soon. “We are going to work to get it done as soon as possible,” Parker told Clarence E. Hill, Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “They want it done. We want it done.” As soon as Bryant is under contract, the only remaining draft picks that will need to sign are linebacker Sean Lee, cornerback Jamar Wall and defensive [...]
Cowboys & Dez Bryant Begin Contract Talks
The Dallas Cowboys will become the first NFL team to kick off the 2010 training camp season and that has forced them to take a new stand when it comes to signing their first-round pick. “We won’t have as much to go on,” said Cowboys executive V.P. Stephen Jones. “We usually have a lot more contracts to go off of. That will make it more challenging.” According to David Moore of the Dallas Morning News, the Cowboys have decided to not take their usual wait and see approach but they will instead open up contract talks with wide receiver Dez [...]
Cowboys Select NT In Supplemental Draft
The Cowboys added some depth at nose tackle today after selecting former Illinois defensive lineman Joshua Price-Brent. in the seventh-round of the NFL Supplemental Draft. With the selection of Price-Brent, Dallas forfeits their seventh-round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. Price-Brent — 6-foot-2, 321-pounds — entered the supplemental draft after he was ruled ineligible for his senior season at Illinois. He will compete for the back-up nose tackle spot with Junior Siavii. Sean Lissemore , who was selected in the seventh-round of the 2010 NFL Draft, could also compete for the position, but he was used primarily at defensive end [...]
Cowboys Sign Two Rookies
The Dallas Cowboys have finally started signing their rookies. It started earlier today with the signing of seventh-round pick Sean Lissemore of William & Mary. The 6-foot-4, 298-pound Lissemore — who worked out at defensive end and nose tackle in the Cowboys 3-4 defensive scheme — signed a four-year deal. He will be a long shot to earn a spot on the 53 man roster. Former Notre Dame Fighting Irish offensive tackle Sam Young was the second rookie to sign with Dallas today. Young was a sixth-round pick and also signed a four-year deal with a $110,500 signing bonus.
Jerry Jones: Steinbrenner was ‘inspiration’
In an interview on ESPN, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones spoke about the late New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner. Jones called Steinbrenner an inspiration among other things. Here are some quotes from the interview: “First and foremost this man was a winner. From a person with my perspective, he was an inspiration in the area of doing everything possible — within the rules — to win. George redefined professional sports ownership with his vision, his ability to build a champion and a passionate approach that lifted the visibility and popularity of his franchise and his sport. From an interest [...]

Owens Unemployed, Blames Media
Terrell Owens is mostly misunderstood. The common perception is that he is a malcontent who divides locker rooms. Every story about Owens mentions his difficulties in San Francisco, Baltimore (the 5 and 1/2 minutes he was a Raven), Philadelphia, and Dallas. It is also presumed that he had difficulties in Buffalo as they have not expressed any interest in resigning the veteran. I believe he is a narcissist who equally loves and hates the media attention bestowed upon him. While with the Dallas Cowboys, he was highly productive as a wide receiver and as a headliner. The problem with that [...]
Jay Ratliff Interview With ESPN Dallas (Video)
ESPN’s Trey Wingo interviews Cowboys nose tackle Jay Ratliff about the Cowboys and the upcoming season.
When assessing or grading an outside linebacker in a 3-4 defense, the first thing one must look for, is if the player in question can rush the passer. Outside linebackers are almost the equivalent of a defensive end in a 4-3. They must be able to rush off the edge and put pressure on the quarterback. However, in a 3-4, outside linebackers are asked to do a lot more than just put their hand in the dirt and rush the passer; they must be able to set the edge against the run and have fluid enough hips, so they can [...]
