The title says it all (the entire season aired on July 4 from Noon to 8p.m.). What more could you want to do while in a drunken haze than remember when and think of exactly how far we came. The year hard knocks was taped, we had just drafted Roy Williams (safety). Our quarterbacks were Quincy Carter and Chad Hutchinson. Anyone remember the duet between Hutch and Richmond Flowers?
Many people don’t like to wallow in the misery of yesteryear, but it can provide quite a bit of perspective.
Here’s an interesting bit of information. The Cowboys projected (as seen on their draft board) Carr to Houston, Joey Harrington to the Panthers, Julius Peppers to Detroit, Roy Williams to Buffalo, Quinten Jammer to San Diego, Bryant McKinnie to Dallas, Phillip Buchanon to Minnesota, Jeremy Shockey to KC. This shouldn’t be a great surprise (McKinnie that is) since Flozell Adams didn’t reach his potential until Parcells arrived the following year.
Unfortunately, the Cowboys erred on some of their evaluations. They had Dwight Freeny as a second round player as well as LeCharles Bently. Before Bently’s injury, he was a monster, but the top of the 2nd round is about right for a pro-bowl center. Lesson learned kids, play tackle!
