Mike Jenkins: I Don’t Have To Work As Hard

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys, News, NFL | COMMENTS: 7 Comments

Dallas Cowboys cornerback Mike Jenkins had a sensational sophomore season in 2009 in which he tallied 49 tackles and five interceptions which put him in the discussion as one of the league’s top young cornerbacks. However, Jenkins recently gave a troubling quote that could allow people to question his hunger and whether or not he wants to get any better. Jenkins said, “I’ve got a Pro Bowl under my belt, so that’s one of the goals I don’t even have to work for. I feel like my job right now is easier, so I don’t have to work as hard. [...]

Dez Bryant Can’t Rememeber Routes

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys, News, NFL | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

In the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys selected a high-profile wide receiver from Oklahoma State — Dez Bryant. There was instantly a lot of buzz and hype surrounding the wide out; he was even given the sacred No. 88. Bryant was a top ten talent, but slipped in the draft due to character issues and missing most of his final collegiate season due to suspension for a NCAA rule infraction. Bryant was not completely honest with the NCAA about his relationship with former Dallas Cowboys Deion Sanders. It now looks like Bryant lost a lot [...]

Martellus Bennett Apologizes For His Comments Towards Vince Young

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys, News, NFL | COMMENTS: Comments Off

Martellus Bennett — the “KungFuAstronaut” as he goes by on Twitter — spoke out yesterday and gave his opinion on the Vince Young situation. In his comments, Bennett called Young’s actions “childish” and “very unprofessional.” While you would have to be crazy to disagree with Bennett’s remarks, Bennett has taken the responsibility to clear up his comments. “I would like to apologize I wasn’t trying to make the headlines or anything when I responded to a tweet asking what I thought about VYs … Situation. Didn’t wanna draw anymore negative attn to it. And for that I’m sorry. I wasn’t [...]

Jerry Jones Is Happy With David Buehler’s Progress

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys, News, NFL | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

The Dallas Cowboys and their loyal fans have shared kicking woes over the past few seasons and second year kicker David Buehler is hoping to erase those memories. Buehler served as a kickoff specialist in 2009, but during the offseason he is being given every opportunity to take over field goal kicking duties. He will be competing with Connor Hughes this summer for the job. The Cowboys have kept Buehler under a close watch. The media was not able to witness any of Buehler’s field goal attempts during last week’s minicamp, since any time he booted the ball was before [...]

Cowboys tight end Martellus Bennett has never been one to shy away from letting his thoughts known and at times it has even gotten him into trouble. This time, Bennett used his Twitter account to rip Titans quarterback Vince Young over Young’s recent strip club incident. Young received a citation by Dallas police after he threw a punch at a man inside an office at Club Onyx in Dallas. Bennett responded to the Young incident by calling the former Longhorn “childish” and “unprofessional.” Mann I dunno wat 2 say abt VY that was childish & very unprofessional u cant do [...]

Austin Gets Work At Slot-Receiver; Curtain Closing On Crayton

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 6 Comments

As the start of the 2010-11 NFL regular season is approaching, it is becoming more and more likely that wide receiver Patrick Crayton will not be on the Dallas Cowboys roster. Many fans anticipate the release and some news over the weekend made Crayton’s release seem more imminent. Miles Austin — the Cowboys’ top wide out last season — has been working as the slot receiver when the Cowboys take the field in multiple receiver sets. “I think he (Austin) is going to be tremendously dangerous in the slot,” coach Wade Phillips said. “The same things that make him good [...]

Moving On…

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 16 Comments

I have been writing for The Landry Hat since January 2008, when I was contacted by Fansided LLC to be the chief Dallas Cowboys writer. Almost 30 months later, the ride is over. I will no longer be writing for The Landry Hat or any other Fansided LLC blog. It’s been a wonderful time here and I appreciate all of you for visiting and joining in on the fun. I remember when this site was only getting 100 page views a day. Now, it is more than 1000 times that with very little help from social networks. The Landry Hat [...]
