Yesterday, a quote from Cowboys cornerback Mike Jenkins surfaced which raised questions about his work ethic and fire to get better. The young star corner has taken offense to those reports and responded on his website claiming they were taken out of context.

In a post entitled, “I Never Said I Don’t Work Hard,” Jenkins wrote:

This is one of the reasons I stay away from the media. They take what you say and make you the bad guy!

First off, I have never said I don’t work as hard in practice! Nor would I ever say a thing like that! What I said was that the Pro Bowl wasn’t a big factor to me because I’ve experienced it and I don’t have to feel like I have to work as hard to get back there because it’s not a big factor! I have always been a hard worker on and off the field!

I’m a team player and everybody that knows me knows that the Pro Bowl is the last thing that I’m worried about! Don’t ever judge me and say that I’m not hungry! Because I want a Super Bowl for my organization and my fellow teammates. That is my goal and that’s what I’m focused on this year.

Quote me on that.

Jenkins led the Cowboys last season with five interceptions and will be looking to improve on his sophomore year.
