Cowboys tight end Martellus Bennett has never been one to shy away from letting his thoughts known and at times it has even gotten him into trouble. This time, Bennett used his Twitter account to rip Titans quarterback Vince Young over Young’s recent strip club incident.
Young received a citation by Dallas police after he threw a punch at a man inside an office at Club Onyx in Dallas.
Bennett responded to the Young incident by calling the former Longhorn “childish” and “unprofessional.”
Mann I dunno wat 2 say abt VY that was childish & very unprofessional u cant do **** like that when u play qb. He needs better ppl round him.
He also added that “Nothing really good happens at 3 am unless u n ur bedroom.”
Bennett and Young were rivals back in college when Bennett attended Texas A & M while Young was enrolled at the University of Texas.
While his mouth may have landed him in trouble before, you can’t fault Bennett for his comments this time. As a quarterback you are expected to be the leader of your franchise and you cannot do that while you are getting into bar fights at three in the morning, Vince Young style, or sexually assaulting women — allegedly – a la Ben Roethlisberger.
Quarterback was once a position of glamor; the face of your franchise and leader. It has since transformed to being a position for Wrangler wearing flip-floppers and late night assaulters. Let’s just hope that Tony Romo continues to tee off on the golf course and not in an unsanitary bathroom during the wee hours of the morning.
