Moving On…

by Cowboys

I have been writing for The Landry Hat since January 2008, when I was contacted by Fansided LLC to be the chief Dallas Cowboys writer. Almost 30 months later, the ride is over. I will no longer be writing for The Landry Hat or any other Fansided LLC blog.

It’s been a wonderful time here and I appreciate all of you for visiting and joining in on the fun. I remember when this site was only getting 100 page views a day. Now, it is more than 1000 times that with very little help from social networks. The Landry Hat was truly a grassroots blog that flourished quickly under my term.

I am proud of what I built here at The Landry Hat and it is sad to leave the site and not be able to retain the naming rights of the blog.

For 2.5 years, you all have supported me and I want to let you know that you can continue to support me at my Dallas Cowboys Examiner page. Whoever takes over The Landry Hat should have to rebuild his or her own readership and I would like to take my readership with me to the Dallas Cowboys Examiner page at http://www.examiner.com/x-850-Dallas-Cowboys-Examiner

I want to thank Fansided LLC for the opportunity to write about the Cowboys for so long.

Thank god all the spam was removed. It was like an abandoned house where there are more weeds than grass.

Good luck in your future endeavor with the Examiner.

Not to complain, but I'm glad there is no Cowboys news while we are making this transition. I don't think I would be able to get blood from this stone (it is it a turnip).

I plan on bringing back the videoblogs to http://www.examiner.com/x-850-Dallas-Cowboys-Exami...

Hit me up there, Staubach

Bummer..

Well your videologs will go down as a classic

I hope Jerry knows best at whats going on with the saftey position. I am going to be kinda of upset if we pass on OJ Otogwe and Ball chokes on us. Jerry says he is not interested but he can be lying too. I just don't see how he does not just look into it. If one of our corners get hurt we will be in trouble. Even at saftey if Ball gets hurt we are in trouble. Jerry has me nervous now I really thought we would be looking into this by now.

I like the youth we have at safety. It's not flashy, but Ball played well when he was in last year. The rookie we took in the 4th round (I don't feel like looking up his name) looks to have athletic ability. If he has football skills, we may have ourselves a great player there. And we drafted Hamlin. So he may be another of our late round wonders that the Cowboys have done so well at getting lately (e.g. Crayton, Scandrick, Choice, Ratliff, Phillips, etc.)

Yea but we also need more take aways and Otogwe has several in his career. I don't care if Ball starts really its just if they are wrong about him what will they do. Otogwe is there now and could really complete our team. I think Jerry should really look into it because this year the Superbowl is here and I think he would really upgrade the team.

It was fun while it lasted.

So make sure you visit http://www.examiner.com/x-850-Dallas-Cowboys-Exami... from now on.

I'd agree with lamenting losing the name. Your new site doesn't exactly roll off the tongue. I'll bookmark it though. I'm getting a new phone on Friday (HTC EVO), so I'll be visiting frequently just to have some place to go on the phone.

If anyone wants to contact me privately, it is still thelandryhat@gmail.com

Well, Joe I recommended you take over The Landry Hat. Good luck and thanks.

In grade school I learned that a dollar can be split 100x. In business school (econ 101 counts right) you find that it is only 2 ways, mine and theirs.

And to respond to the topic de jour... Thanks Dan. I appreciate the opportunity to have a forum to talk about my favorite topic (photography is my 2nd... wait... women, 1st... then the Cowboy, then photography).

Either way, I'm dismayed to see you go. A small anecdote that may or may not be true because my elderly grandmother is the source.

My grandfather's sister dated Tom Landry and Landry wished to marry her. She didn't think he made enough money at the time (possibly as a high school football coach), so she was woo'ed by and married another gentleman who was well off.

While I was even born when these decisions were made, it would be SOOO incredible to be able to say that I was related to Tom Landry distantly via marriage. Then I think, well maybe she wouldn't have wanted him to coach at the professional ranks, or maybe she would have liked NY too much and he wouldn't have become Dallas's first head coach.

So the point of all this, is that even though somethings would be awesome in theory, often things do work out for the best. And I wish nothing but the best for you.

Quick headlines:

Marlin Jackson (S) for the Eagles ruptured his achilles and probably will be out for the year.

OJ Otogwe (S) for the Rams is no longer a restricted free agent and can be signed without return compensation.

Dan,

Thank you sir for all your hard work, and dedication in providing us all with the best Cowboys blog hands down. It's a sad day like when Barry Sanders retired.
