Hey Skins Fans, Kiss My Grits!

There’s one pretty quoteable stat that even Redskins fans seem able to remember-that the Cowboys hadn’t won a playoff game since 1996.

Thankfully, that ended this season.

Still, Skins fans seem to come at us with this accusation that we haven’t had success in the playoffs.

My friends, feast your eyes on these records.

The Skins have won a grand total of 3 playoff games since 1992, when the Cowboys won their first of three Super Bowls in the early 90’s. They’ve only made the playoffs four times since the ‘92 season. During that time, the Cowboys have won three Super Bowls.

Yes, the Cowboys have had a bad record in the playoffs in recent memory. That has left a bitter taste in the mouths of fans.

But let me ask you this: is it better to go to the playoffs and lose or just not go at all?

Skins fans, don’t come at me with anything about draft picks. You’ve made bad choices with your higher picks (thanks for letting DeMarcus Ware slip to us in 2005-how’s Carlos Rogers working out?). How did any of those guys you drafted with higher picks* help you out this year?

You weren’t invited to the dance, so you sat home and you were bitter. We were at least among the 12 best teams in the league that year.

I just want this argument gone. It’s not a particularly bright one on the behalf of the Skins fans because their teams haven’t been good enough to even make the playoffs. I don’t want to be nasty, but it’s just not a sound argument.  But in recent years, you haven’t had any success to talk about either.

At least we deserved to be there.

*I left out Sean Taylor in my consideration of players that would have helped this season for obvious reasons. I haven’t forgotten him and it’s still a shame what happened to him. I’m glad that Skins fans are remembering him right.

    MbIIIEffect…

Seems like you are up to your old tricks again. Can’t you get it through your grotesque skull that the Cowboys are really no better than the Skins. We both suck. Plain and simple. You got lucky on Miles Austin…How is Bobby Carpenter working out for you?

    PS.
    At least you respect Sean.

  2. Joe D. Ramirez says:

I’d rather suck like the Cowboys than the way the Skins have been sucking. I think those who believe a season is only successful when a teams wins a Super Bowl are myopic and don’t realize that the process is just as important as the finish.

  3. Joe D. Ramirez says:

And a quick FYI, I have no respect for Sean Taylor. Nor did my friend who is a skins fan.

  4. TDCowboys says:

Kevin has a very high standard yet he’s a skins fan lamo. The Cowboys players are better then the skins players at every position. We swept you twice, shut you out, and won more than twice as many games. So did you just pick on Bobby Carpenter!!! I feel bad for you dude and B. Carpenter could start for the Redskins anyway lamo.

  5. Kev,

Bobby had a better year. Still a bust, so you’re right there. Other than that, your points are borderline moronic and I feel stupider for having read them. We didn’t get lucky on Miles just like we didn’t get lucky on Romo, McBriar and Ogletree. We have good scouts that know talent. 11-5 does not suck. 4-12 does suck.

  6. Joe D. Ramirez says:

Bobby Carpenter isn’t a bust. Jamarcus Russell is a bust. Carpenter hasn’t performed up to the expectations of a 1st round draft pick, but he has been a solid contributor and could be a starter on several teams in the league.

I’ll agree about the undrafted free agents we have accumulated. In decades past, they would have been 10th round draft picks. The draft just doesn’t go on as long as it used to, so there are still some talented players who simply were not considered to be the top 300 college players coming out of the draft.

  7. bevomav says:

LOL Kevin..So winning two out of the last three NFC East titles and not making the playoffs are both losers?

Spoken like a true Foreskin cult member..but..it just shows the lunacy that is Foreskin Nation..Just a hint..When Danny asks you to move to South America..don’t go..If forced to go..Leave the green Kool-Aid alone..

  8. Kevin says:

Ramirez AKA “NightStalker”…Now I do fear the Star…Face it losers. Cowboys suck…And Ramirez, for not respecting ST, you are a complete fag and probably live in CA and claim the Cowboys when soccer is not on.

    Punk.

  9. Kevin says:

Ram Rod…Kick that dude out of your bed and reply…Wipe the stain off your mouth from last night.

  10. Joe D. Ramirez says:

What ev Kev. I have zero expectation that you and I will see eye to eye, though I imagine that is because you are a paraplegic.

I will say that I appreciate your enthusiasm to go into enemy territory where you risk life and limb. It’s not cowardly at all.

  11. Kevin says:

I know that I was right about CA…And your affinity for soccer…Wasn’t I? AH HA…

  12. matt schaff says:

it dont matter at all unless u win the ring us cowlickers

  13. Joe D. Ramirez says:

    Kev,

At some point in your life you are going to realize that spending time picking fights on a Cowboys blog is just kinda sad. No wait. It is sad. California doesn’t sound all that bad right now considering it’s cold and rainy out.

Tell you what, post your address and we’ll all visit you one afternoon.

Matt, I’m OK with your assessment if you only watch one game a year. If you watch anymore than that, you are just a hypocrite.

  14. Kevin says:

    My address is

    6718 Lubbock Road
    Juarez Mexico

You and I might be neighbors Guterrez..I mean Ramirez…Are you related to Richard? I will leave you alone if you just admit that your thought that the Cowboys are good is sane. Please admit that your team is a bunch of coked up losers.

  15. yourmom says:

    Isn’t Jerry Jones dead yet???????

  16. yourmom says:

He kinda reminds me of the crypt keeper.

  17. Joe D. Ramirez says:

That would be breaking news. While most Cowboys fans will agree that they love Jerry Jones as an owner, they mostly hate him as a GM. You don’t need to look any farther than the Roy Williams trade to see why.

The demise of Jerry won’t scare many Cowboys fans at this point, considering most are in favor of Stephen Jones’s hand in team activities the past few years.

And he has never been a good looking man, but I guarantee you he gets better tail than me.

  18. thats funny……i enjoy your sence of humor joe!!!!! i think that jerry is slowly letting stephen have some imput, but i do think jerry is gonna go down like al davis. and he’ll still be callin the shots even beyond the grave?

  19. SuckMyRedskinBallsCowgirl Fans says:

say, this is the bottom line… cowgirls fuckin suck.. jerry jones deserved to be shot… in the knee caps, Snider will be soon… hopefully, but end of the story… cowgirls suck… let’s see romo=homo. Roy Williams=chump. Newman=track star. that it! umm let’s see…. Flozell Adams=selfish chump who can’t stand the fact that HE ISN’T THAT GOOD!!!! Don’t make me gettin on yall for picking up a 86 year old worn down wrinkle checks steroid using Zach Thomas bahahahha!!!! and Brad Johnson? got the REDSKINS SLOBS!!! AFTER 10 YEARS! BUT BTW SEAN TAYLOR WOULD HAVE GONE DOWN AS ONE OF, OR THE BEST SAFTEY EVER IF HE WOULD HAVE LIVED AS LONG AS EMMITT BITCH ASS I WISH I COULD DANCE SMITH YALL ARE JUST MAD BC HE KILLED YALL EVERYGAME.. and if you think we can’t make draft picks shittttt 2004 got Sean “The Reaper” Taylor and Chris “The Best” Cooley while yall drafted Julius Jones Jacob RogersStephen Peterman BruceSean Ryan Nathan Jones Patrick Crayton Jacques Reeves…. ALL THOSE SUCK! and with Sean Taylor as a started Redskins Beat Cowgirls 4 out of 6 haha YEAH BITCH!!!! COWGIRLS SUCK THEM BALLSSSSSSSSS

  22. Joe D. Ramirez says:

    Touche’ SMRBC. Touche’.

I will throw out that in 2003, we drafted Newman, Witten, James, and signed Romo. That’s a hell of a draft class.

  23. drew "cool" brees says:

1.4 billion dollar stadium with no title, sounds like a wasted investment. have fun hosting a super bowl with your own team not in the race next year, chumps.

    go saints!

  24. bevomav says:

While the NFC East Champion Dallas Cowboys have been winning 2 of 3 division titles and going 33-15 in the last three years…the NFC East Cellar Dwelling Washington Foreskins have been going 21-27..

Worse yet their fans..living in a constant state of denial..have begun stalking other teams sports blogs and forums looking for something to make their miserable life worth living..

Feel free to continue this practice..If my choices were to talk to another loser Foreskin fan or visit a winning teams blog..No brain er..

    BTW..”How Bout Them Cowboys”

  25. 3SuperBowls2NFLchampionshipsequals5titles says:

Just a friendly reminder that the Skins will be whippin your butts in no time. Enjoy your success while it lasts… because Dallas played way over their heads this past year. The Vikings proved it with an over the hill qb.

Once Shanahan gets his guys in there, it’s party over for the rest of the NFC East.

Especially Dallas. The most overrated franchise in all of sports.

  26. bevomav says:

LOL..Shanahan to the rescue..He was lame in Denver..once he lost Elway..Since then a 500 coach at best..

  27. Joe D. Ramirez says:

I’m concerned about Shanahan. Their defense has played well the past few years, and if you add a solid offensive effort of 27 points per game, the Skins can easily become a 12-4 caliber team. Shanahan isn’t an alchemist, he doesn’t turn crap into potpourri. It will take at least 2 years to add enough talent on the offensive side.

My hope is that even if the offense improve, the defense will reciprocally get worse because of age.

  28. Octopus says:

I have never seen more stupid comments in my life. What the hell are these skins fans thinking? WOW. Speechless.

  29. Skins fans are the worst. The funny thing is that they get themselves all riled up before the start of each season only to fail again.

  30. Joe D. Ramirez says:

My guess is that Skins fans are like Cowboys fans the off-season Parcells was hired. I was just giddy with optimism.

And then the unthinkable happened, he turned Quincy into a real Quarterback and a 5-11 team into a playoff team.

Fortunately for us, Shanahan is no Bill Parcells.

  31. Redskin1972 says:

And the last time Parcells won a S.B. was when??? Couldn’t do it with your sorry @$$ team, and won’t do it with the Fins either… Your tem is in just as much disarray as ours is, and you really think the guy who averages 3rd in Division wins through out his career is really your answer??? I only have one thing to say to you… Brunell to Moss, TD (x2)… You’re all still pissed we spoiled the triplets little gay ring ceremony in YOUR house and then destroyed you 35-7 in the Big House…

  32. Joe D. Ramirez says:

    Skins72,

I was actually more upset that I wasn’t able to see the Triplets Ring of Honor ceremony. If I recall correctly the NFL was raising money for those affected by hurricane Katrina. That didn’t even bother me that much, but I couldn’t find the ceremony anywhere. Cowboys.com, NFL.com, Katrinavictimsarentappreciative.com, etc.

Good luck in the upcoming year. YOU’RE GOING TO NEED IT!

  33. come on redskins1972, really? do you really think that you guys are in the same position in the division that we are? come on….. fan optmisim is one thing, but blatant ignorance is another. your qb position alone is the wrench in the gears for you guys. even if you take, say clausen in the draft, it’ll take 3 years for him to develop into a playoff caliber qb. hope you guys plan on unning the ball 90% of the time this year. the only problem with that is your o-line is good enough and your D can’t hold it’s own……so much for your theory.

  34. HUH? says:

Someone on here said Shanny is “at best a .500 coach since the loss of Elway.” How is going to the playoffs 18 of 20 yrs at best a .500 coach. I say both the Skins and pokes are fairly similar teams. Both OVERHYPED, and under achieving. I feel(and hope) Danny has learned his lesson and the Skins will once again become a contender. Believe it or not I wouldnt mind seeing the pokes with a decent team so when we meet there will be a little something extra to play for. The teams have lost the rivalry but it is good to see the fans still know what it is about.

PS. It is not just skins fans coming to pokes message boards. check out some of your fans on the washington post boards. Not the smartest posters I have read before.

  35. Joe D. Ramirez says:

Here are Shanahan’s record post Elway. It’s not bad, but it also doesn’t instill a great deal of confidence.

I personally like when the Skins do well, but we still beat them. I’ll take that every time. With teams with large fan bases, they run the gamut between highly educated and highly ignorant. It’s much like any high school. You have your honor student, your special ed student, your middle ground, and you sexy teachers. I personally like to think we have more of the honor, middle, and sexy teachers that frequent this site, though the sexy teachers don’t post much.

  36. Dear confused guy,

That’s a good point. There are some Cowboys fans that really don’t argue their points correctly.

And then you shot yourself in the foot. But did you really just say that the Cowboys and Redskins were similar teams? And how were we overhyped last year? We had a dominant defense and a pretty damn good offense too. I really don’t think we were overhyped at all. Get back to me on that one.

  37. Joe D. Ramirez says:

    MBIII,

I absolutely believe the Cowboys are over saturated with coverage. When the Cowboys are good, we have 5 prime time games and a Thanksgiving game. ESPN, SI, Fox Sports discuss Cowboys minutia. Non stories are covered like, “Wade Phillips still without a contract extension.” The sky is still blue.

The amount of discussion breeds hype. The Cowboys aren’t always the most interesting team in the league, but we are definitely the most covered.

  38. Huh? says:

    Mr. theMBIIIeffect,

Dallas is the media’s darling every year for going to Superbowl, but seem to “choke” (get weaker)as the year goes on. This past year, I will tip my hat to you, you’re team was not horrible. My meaning of being the same team is, take out your decent(not dominant)year out and look at the Skins and pokes. Same team. 2 teams with shitty front offices. I reserve judgement on the Skins until I see how Shanny/Allen’s plan comes together. Same team as in lack of disipline, OVER HYPED, and underachivers. I have nothing to come at you about last year, because I am a realist. pokes had a better team last year, but that is not saying much. We were absolutely HORRIBLE! I dont come to other teams forums to start smack talk, but to gather info for next years fantasy football. I find homers sometimes have valuable info on players that the national media do not cover. BUT I will speak my mind when idiots spout rediculous quotes. I am not a football guru, just an arm chair qb. My hope is to have us playing for the NFC championship again. AND I KNOW YOU ALL KNOW HOW THAT ALWAYS TURNS OUT. If you need a refresher, Dallas has NEVER beaten Washington in the NFC championship! Good luck next year EXCEPT when you play the SKINS!!

  39. Joe D. Ramirez says:

    Huh…

The Cowboys are a good offense, but not a fantasy option. I’ve grown bored of fantasy the last few years, but the defense, despite being strong late, doesn’t force turnovers and subsequent defensive TD’s. More often than not, I would say that we are bend but don’t break defense that tries to get to the QB with 4 rushers.

I’m not a big fan of that style. Witten is the only good fantasy option on offense. Barber used to be, but he has lost his explosion, and while you can blame his quad injury for last year’s effort, I don’t see him regaining his form from 2006 or 2007. As for the rest, draft Roy Williams at WR in the first round. If you believe in the principal of regression to the mean, he is primed to have a HUGE year next year. I’m talking 25 TD’s, 168 catches, and 2500 yards.

As to your other point about the Skins being overhyped… yes, they are in the off-season. They are a collection of overpaid stars and that draws eyeballs and attention. I remember the year they signed Deion Sanders. I thought they would go 14-2 if not better. Nope. I’d disagree with you about the front office, but I’m writing an article right now about the 2006 draft, so that really won’t help my argument.

  40. Huh? says:

You, Mr. Ramirez, are the reason I come to these forums. I appreciate your honesty and insight and respect your misguided opinion. (totally a joke) I agree with the bend dont break D and believe that is another parallel between the Skins and the pokes. I am looking forward to the Skins using the 3-4.(if we can get the personnel). Your assesment of Roy Williams intrigues me. Not a huge fan of R.W. but I will definately be putting him on my off season watch list.

  41. Joe D. Ramirez says:

    Huh,

It’s talk like that, that gets me called a surreptitious Giants/Eagles/Skins fan. I was going to write an article about bewaring of trends, and the 3-4 defense is right there at the top of my list. I’m not sure if I will ever finish the article, but here’s a cliff notes version.

NFL is a copy cat league.
A system will work great because no one runs it, so you have your pick of the litter of the talent, e.g., the Steelers getting All-pro linebackers year after year because no one else wanted them. They were tweeners and couldn’t play the 3-4.

Now everyone is converting to the 3-4, so those steals are no longer available and you are going to have to draft higher and higher to get quality players. Also, with greater demand, means that free agents who can run your system are going to be more expensive.

So the question is, do you trust your GM more to pick players better than the Patriots, Cowboys, Chiefs, Browns, Dolphins, Steelers, etc. Sure you may say yes to the Browns, but the past history of the Skins wouldn’t instill much confidence.

Skins, now under new management (same crappy owner). Historically, Shanahan has done a poor job assessing defensive talent. Bruce Allen came from Tampa where they ran the Tampa 2. Maybe that doesn’t mean anything, or maybe he is using guess work on player evaluations. I’d feel more comfortable with a Pioli or someone from the Parcells line. So good luck, but not too much.

And about Roy Williams, that was a math joke. Regression to the mean doesn’t work with anyone who ever was in the Lions organization.

  42. Sure, we’re the most covered team in the NFL. But we usually back it up. We didn’t fizzle down the stretch this year. We stumbled in a playoff game that was one interception from being in the Super Bowl.

Hey Huh, what do you think about Haynesworth getting moved to nose tackle if the Skins go 3-4. He’s come out and said that he doesn’t want to play that position. He’s got all the tools to play, but he’s a moody player. There are also a few other positions that need addressing, but Orakpo at 3-4 OLB would be fierce.

  43. cowboys says:

I live in Minnesota but am a cowboys fan. Ya the Vikes beat us bad as i watched the game with friends and family being the only cowboy fan sucked. The Boys have a lot of talent and jerry knows what he is doing because he has help with a great scouting team that never seems to disapoint. Roy Williams, well you win some and you loose some but at least he isnt Snider who throws more money away than any other owner in any sport. Other than Shanahan when did he sign anybody worth a damn. Shanahan will help but the skins have a long way to go. They have a respected tightend and thats about it. They have 0 QB talent and 1 WR. Haynsworth is not that good by himself I respected ST he was very good but I think Snider should take notes from Jones on how to build a team. Ya he makes some bad choices again Williams but over all he knows how to market his team and bring people in.

  44. Huh? says:

MBIII… My thoughts on Haynsworth’s fat ass is to trade his lazy ass and Jason Cambell to St.L for their 1st and 3rd. I dont think we have a 3rd. Take Bradford with #1. Then either trade the #4 for more picks or draft Tackle (Okung). What the hell, it is an uncapped year!

  45. Joe D. Ramirez says:

Haynesworth isn’t worth a one. Campbell isn’t worth a 3rd. Actually, if you considering the monsterous size of Haynesworth’s contract, you are looking to have to package him with some picks for any team to even consider a trade. I still like Campbell. I think he will be like Dave Carr in the sense that he never had much of a chance to succeed.

Isn’t there some ridiculous stat out there that Campbell has had a new offensive coordinator every year of his career until last year when Zorn was there for 2 straight years. And then they took the play calling duties away from Zorn. I’m not saying Campbell had the potential to be great, but I think he would have been better with some stability.

And Bradford may not be there at when you pick, but I don’t think yall should take a QB. Yall seriously need to rebuild your offensive line, so Tackle, Guard with the first two picks, and then start taking running backs like they are going out of style. Drop LJ and Portis and see if you had any hits with the new RB’s.

You might have a miserable year, but I don’t see a QB improving your team next year either. And there will still be other QB’s rated near the top of the draft.
