Dallas Cowboys Win And They Are In Playoffs

Posted by: thelandryhat

There is a lot riding on the Dallas Cowboys game tonight against the Washington Redskins.  With the NY Giants losing big-time at Carolina today, a Cowboys victory puts them in the playoffs.

It wasn’t long ago when the Redskins almost beat the Cowboys in a 7-6 game that was as boring to watch as the score indicates. A plus for the Cowboys is that the overrated Albert Haynesworth is scared of Andre Gurode and Haynesworth will not play tonight.

DeMarcus Ware will battle third-stringer Levi Jones most of the night.

The Cowboys need to attack the Redskins fast, and beat them while they are down. Players were accused of quitting last week for the Redskins. But I doubt they’ll play that way tonight.

YES!! I needed a second opinion to confirm this. So to get into the playoffs, Dallas can either win 1 out of their last 2 games or as long as the Giants lose next week they can lose both their games?

Still think they should have practiced on Christmas? LMAO, but on a serious note, I’m super happy they won and are in the playoffs. All three phases looked sharp and I only had a few head scratchers here and there. Going to the run on 4th and short twice? Not going for a field goal on the 30 yrd line? Isn’t that why you replaced folk? Should have given Suisham a chance to make a 40 yarder and see what he can do. How about T-New missing three tackles?? But a win is a win and that’s all that really matters. Looking forward to next week’s game. Happy New Year!

Snafubar… It would have been Wade’s fault if they had lost but since they won it’s IN SPITE of Wade.

    Typical crap around here.

SNAFUBAR-I’m happy with the win, but scoring 3 points in the second half was a slight concern. We had a chance to really put them away and we came away with three points. We’ve got to put the ball in the end zone in the playoffs. I don’t like seeing 23-yard field goal attempts. I still think they should’ve practiced on Christmas. The D was sharp but the offense has to be better in these last few games. I’m interested to see what we do against the Eagles next weekend. It’d be nice to get another NFC East title. On another note, glad to see Westbrook back. There were talks that his career would be over after his recent concussion fears. I don’t want to see anyone go out like that. I wish he’d take next Sunday off, though.

Doesn’t our team have a freakin’ Quarterback Sneak in the playbook?

One of those 4th downs would have been a perfect time to fake a run and go long

Why not give Buehler a shot at the 50+ yard field goals??

I am glad that we are in the playoffs, but what the hell is wrong with Roy. I mean he was wide open and the ball hits him in the hands then he drops it. They even looked at Wade after it and he even looks like he is tired of the drops. Then Roy is smiling about it I don’t think he understands how close he is to losing his job. Then there is Barber on short yardage. I am kinda glad they ran this play 3 times already and failed everytime, because maybe they will not try it anymore going into the playoffs. There was talk last night after the game if Wade deserves a extension what does everyone think? I say if he beats the Eagles next week he deserves it. I mean the defense is doing great I would hate to lose that if he leaves. Lets be honest also the only reason he get so much heat is because he is the DALLAS COWBOYS coach. I think I might be able to handle Wade being our coach longer just not Jason Garrett handling the offense.

ROY WILLIAMS: Next step in this offense is to have Roy W. split 50/50 time with Kevin Ogletree as 3rd reciever. From that point moving into the playoffs the best playing results of the 2 grading out on the field plays a % 75/25. Results are the judge now not old UT and one Detroit season of good stats on bad teams. Roy- Your living in the past with all the UT talk, signs and cloths you still put front and center. We must make him produce or bench for now. I have seen enough to say this guy is not going to be anyones #1 or even #2 reciever. We are not talking a rookie…Another bad reciever trade jerry. can we please build a team with our draft picks.

  8. 8. snafubar Says:

Ron, that’s a wonderful idea but it’ll never happen. Jerry has too much invested into Williams and all we’re going to hear from the front office is that “we’re waiting for him to start playing like he does in practice”. I’m just going to face the fact that this guy is here to stay for the remainder of the season and just hope he doesn’t get worse. But once this season is done, and if he doesn’t improve, I hope we let him go and Crayton (if he’s still here), Olgetree, and Hurd move in to the line up.

I was talking to HowleyFan the other day and he had a good idea for next year.

At training camp, go up to the wide receivers and say: “Look, all the spots are open. Go get ‘em.” Let there be a legitimate competition for the top spots. Miles Austin would beat out Roy for sure. I bet Ogletree would beat out Crayton.

I love how everyone is talking about Ogletree. It kinda validates my the post I wrote right after the draft. Anybody know where Manuel Johnson is these days?

  10. 10. ron Says:

Its not that Ogletree is so special. He looks like a servicable wr. He is all we have on the bench unless you consider the tv winner of MI reality show something really for the future….we see now how much impact that show had on the team…ha…ha.

Draft a wr and off takle next year in round one/2 we should be good for next year.

  11. 11. KD Says:

You’re right MBIII you were spot on, but let’s not talk about all the times you were wrong, especially recently, with criticism of Wade Phillips.

Or did they really just make it to the playoffs, and put themselves, potentially, in the spot to take the #2 seed all in spite of Wade?

I just can’t get over all of the negativity this site saw, especially from you and TLH, over the past few weeks. Now that they’re winning it’s a completely different story.

I know you’re both big fans and you’re probably not fair weather fans, but perhaps each of you gives into that a little bit too much. Just a suggestion is all.

And Ron we need a lot of help on the OLine in the draft, don’t really think we need any WRs. We have Austin, Crayton, and Ogletree. Then we have Hurd and I still think Roy is going to be good one day but that idea is drifting away and away and away =P

  12. 12. theMBIIIeffect Says:

You have a good point, KD. Wade did lead them into the playoffs. That being said, if we beat San Diego or New York, we have a damn good shot at the #2 seed (we need a few things to happen to get the #2 seed right now). Neither TLH or I are fairweather fans. I’ve grown up in Northern VA, Redskin country. I’ve had to defend my Boys through plenty. At this point, I’d trade a nut for a good playoff run. That’s where this criticism came from. I just want to see everyone hit their stride right at this point in the season. Romo is doing it. The defense is doing it. There have been lapses in a few positions on offense, but that might be playcalling. Maybe I should roast Garrett more. But now is the crucial time of the year for the Cowboys. Now, we have to do it against the Eagles. Hell, we might get the Eagles twice in a row.

As for the Ogletree thing, I was just looking for something I wouldn’t get roasted over. I took a beating over these last two posts. Maybe I’ll write something on how dominant Romo has been recently to get back in everyone’s good graces.

  13. 13. T.E.X.A.S Says:

Lol MBIII I’m just glad you right something for us to talk about good or bad everyone has their opinions.

  14. 14. KD Says:

Hey you’re in my good graces. You only really NEED one nut. So you give yours for a playoff run and I’ll give mine for a Superbowl appearance…

I think we can leave the rest up to the Cowboys to “nut up”.

I just think a lot of criticism is being thrown around when all in all we’re having a really good year. It could alllllll go down the tubes though but this team has a nice new direction, I’m confident.
