Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo Gets Flack For Vegas Trip

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo is back in the press after he apparently took a trip with wide receiver Miles Austin to Las Vegas, the city of SIN.

Of course, the press is tying this trip to one two years in which Romo left the week before a playoff game against the rival New York Giants to head to Mexico with a blond bimbo named Jessica Simpson and his best buddy Jason Witten.

I guess Vegas has a certain level of dirtiness to it, right? I mean, legal gambling and legal prostitution, free food and money everywhere.

But this trip happens when the Cowboys are 8-3, in first place, and controlling their own destiny for the playoffs and a divisional championship.

So, is Tony Romo under house arrest? Should he not be taking these trips? If not, why?

It just seems absurd that this is being turned into something negative. Is Tony Romo the only guy who takes these kinds of trips during the season and before what can be considered very important games? Does it have an effect on his play? Is he not taking the game seriously?

If the Cowboys lose, is he going to be blamed because he went to Vegas?

Ervin go learn the game of football..Its obvious you just started watching football because you dont know what your talking about..

I recently began watching the cowboys, been long time fan. Tony Romo is over rated needs to be second string. His high completion rate are pass`s that dont result in winning.H,e is afraid to run with the ball when pressured to do so . he is a wimp. he grounds , or dumps it anywhere to get rid of it. He has skills great arm for most part, yes at times his protection isn`nt what it should be....

I feel the issue is not Romo going to Vegas, for whatever reason. The real issue at play is the lack of focus and concentration on Romo's part. We're not talking about Romo doing something illegal and wrong as other players around the league have done and got caught. We're talking about bringing the Cowboys back to level of professionalism we all grew up loving and admiring. I'm not saying that Romo is solely to blame for all of the Cowboy's woes. However, he does play a large part in the Cowboys lack of execution. He lacks the level of leadership that Aikman and Staubach had that allowed them to lead the team on the field. When was the last time you saw Romo communicating on the sideline after a bad set of downs or even a touchdown getting ready for the next set of downs? As a Cowboy fan since I was in grade school, I sincerely hope that things get worse before they get better. Hopefully, that way JJ will get mad enough to realize that he his controlling nature is dooming the Cowboys, make some serious personnel changes and let coaches be coaches and stay in the owners box.

Doomsday..like I say it's not so bad..Once you get past the sloppy part..lol..

Doomsday,

Miles dont want Romos sloppy seconds hahah...Im sure he is getting more than enough tail now that he is the starter...

Romo & Austin in Vegas isn't the problem we as Cowboy fans need to be worried about.....
It's the fact that the Evil Cowboy killer Jessica Simpson is BACK. And NOT with Romo....
Reported on TMZ, Jessica says when asked about Miles Austin....
"He is a Hottie"  If that evil @#$%^ gets her hands on Austin and turns him into a non-football catching weenie WR, as she did with Romo...Were in trouble... Not to mention the locker Room meyhem this has the potential to cause....

Alright I see now never heard about it before and it was not being talk about much. Thanks for the info

There are two types of options. There are team options and, usually, player options. Wade's is the first type. If Jerry wants he can just pick up that option and Wade will go on coaching. This keeps him from having to fork over huge money if Wade has some kind of phenomenal tenure here. Jerry can just pick up the option and hold onto him for that price for one more year.

It's kind of like a stock option. Stocks for ABC are selling at 10 bucks a share. Your company offers you an option at 12 dollars a share. You can just pay 10 dollars to buy the shares, but if you hold onto your option, and the price of ABC's stock skyrockets to 25 dollars a share. You can still buy the stock at 12 dollars.

Player options are where the player decides if he wants to stay another year for an agreed upon price. Vick has a team option, Kevin Millwood of the Rangers, had a player option which he'll take because he'll never ever get offered that much by anyone in their right minds. In basketball teams can trade players with team options, then when their original contract expires they can pick up that players option, essentially snatching them back from the team they traded them to. Dallas mistakenly did that with DeSegana Diop. I say mistakenly because it was a huge option and he wasn't worth it.

Make sense?

Oh yeah... Death to TMZ

I kind of have a feeling the Giants are going to have some trouble against us this week. One because they get to meet Austin being a starter for the first time. Two they also get a taste of Jenkins and not Scandrick starting instead. Also they get to meet our new defense and not the one that fell apart at the end this time around.

T. Romo and M. Austin went to Vegas. Did they get a DUI? Did they kill someone by accident? Did they get caught with marijuana or illegal drugs? Did they rape any women? Did they shoot themselves in the foot with their guns????  No they went for 14 hours for a charity event and because it's T.Romo its a big deal. The league has got more to worry about then where T. Romo goes for 14 hours.

Sorry it might be a stupid question, but can someone tell me what the media means by a option year? They keep mention it saying something about Jerry holding a option as Wade Phillips coaches his last five games under his orginal contract.

Yea I think it was taking to seriously. Like KD was saying they did make it to practice the following day. If they stayed up all night in Las Vegas they would not be making it to there job the next day. Just with the drive back you would probaly not make it back let alone no rest, but lets not forget if Romo and Austin have a horrible game expect this to be more news than it should have.

I already addressed that yes, it was for charity. Yes, they left. They were only there for 14 hours. He went on Thursday after the game, Demarcus Ware went to WinStar on Saturday Night. Where's all the flak he's going to take?

There comes a time where these players need to be somewhat normal. I don't care what you do for a living, if you take a day or two off from your regular schedule you come back refreshed. I'm glad they got to have a little bit of fun but it was more than that. It was for a cause. They were also there for a very short period of time, and were back and focused on football when they were expected to be.

How many parties do you think football players are hosting around the Dallas area? Or in any other city by players on other teams?

This is a non-issue and it's hardly news. It was first published on TMZ for crying out loud, what does THAT tell you?

This article from ESPN makes it sound like it's Wade's job to win back. We probably already knew this but it is odd to hear Jerry bring it up. Sounds like Wade needs a playoff win or two to stick around. I definitely agree that he better get the real wins or head out. http://sports.espn.go.com/dallas/nfl/news/story?id...

Well in fairness..and after reading the post again..I see it was to get a thread of conversation going..Dan didn't diss Tony(this time), he just asked the questions..

The answer of course is yea..but if not for that it would be something else..Blaming Romo has become sport everywhere..

Been thinking about it but I don't believe QCar got the negative press that Tony does..

charity? You mean they left after the event? You know they partied.

Sorry about including the Miles Austin part I now see it right in front of my face in the first line.

How could you possibly not mention that the trip was for a charity event planned months in advance and he was in Dallas getting treatment the next morning? Miles Austin was there too.
