Dig deep into my archives and you will find numerous posts that bash the mainstream media and ESPN for slanting stories about the Dallas Cowboys.
First off, I like how Tony Romo responded to the media trap with sharpness. He’s had three awesome games in a row and he seems to be taking the leadership role by the horns. His response to the Roy Williams media firestorm has been perfect.
ESPN and their lackeys at Dallas Morning-News have been bombarding Romo with questions about his relationship with wide receiver Roy Williams after Williams made a few comments that were completely slanted by ESPN into a story very similar to the Terrell Owens saga the network ignited last year.
Williams basically said that he is really not sure why he hasn’t connected with Tony Romo. He admits that he is getting a lot of passes thrown his direction, but that Romo doesn’t seem to be as accurate when throwing to him.
Roy Williams is not Terrell Owens in the locker room. Roy Williams is not a threat in the Dallas Cowboys locker room.
The media is.
Williams had to correct the media sensational headlines “Roy Williams Not Happy With Romo?” with emphasis on the fact that he is not a locker room cancer. Even as they report the following quote, ESPN compares Williams comments to Owens:
“I didn’t complain,” Williams said. “I didn’t complain that I didn’t get the ball. I got seven opportunities in [last Sunday's win over Seattle]. All I said was that, when it comes to me, it’s not there. The percentages … back my case. I’m not saying it can’t be fixed because that’s what we do every day. We try to work on it and get it fixed.
“I’m not a T.O. [Terrell Owens] or I’m not trying to be a T.O. I don’t know why people are trying to put me in that category because I’m happy to win. I’ve said that 100 times.”
