Dallas Cowboys vs. Atlanta Falcons Discussion Thread
The Dallas Cowboys are set to face the Atlanta Falcons in just under an hour. Will Tony Romo and Miles Austin continue to put up big numbers? Will Marion Barber and Felix Jones be healthy again after the long bye week? Will Keith Brooking keep channeling his inner Brett Favre by running around and playing like a kid out there? We’ll discuss all that and more in today’s gameday discussion thread.
I’ll be keeping up with the game and discussion in this discussion as well as on Twitter. You can follow me @cheedelt.

I forgot my prediction! Dallas 24, Falcons 17.
October 25th, 2009 at 4:01 pmMaybe we need a “shut the H*ll up crowd” slide to go on the megatron, if that’ll help reduce the false starts
October 25th, 2009 at 4:49 pmAll4, thank you for saying something. I thought I was going to be on this thread alone and that would’ve been a new low.
We’ve gotta do something different on the o-line. That’s the source of most of our penalties. They’re looking pretty good on this drive, though.
October 25th, 2009 at 4:58 pmMIKE JENKINS!, haha, hes showing Newman up today
October 25th, 2009 at 5:10 pmSMILES MILES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
October 25th, 2009 at 5:19 pmhaha, the SPEED!
October 25th, 2009 at 5:21 pmCAAAAAAAAAAAAPS LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOCK!!!!
But really, I’m excited. I had a bad feeling about this game after that first drive. I’m feeling better now.
October 25th, 2009 at 5:30 pmIf I had a wishlist for everything I wanted to see during this game, it’d be almost all checked off. Romo is scary accurate right now, Marty B is getting involved, we’re blocking pretty well, Miles Austin is getting open and being really fast, we’re creating turnovers, Jenkins is turning into a cornerback you don’t throw against, Spencer is showing signs of life (fumble recovery) and Sensabaugh is looking pretty good even after a two-week absence. I like it.
October 25th, 2009 at 5:38 pmAnd then Tony goes out and pulls some magic out of his ass. And completes a TD pass to Patrick Crayton, no less. Outstanding.
October 25th, 2009 at 5:40 pmhonestly, i am happy with everything, sure williams dropped some, but he’s still a threat, and wow i am happy as h*ll
October 25th, 2009 at 5:42 pmmiles austin doing it big!
October 25th, 2009 at 6:34 pmWe’re looking real good. Everybody’s playing well.
October 25th, 2009 at 6:47 pmWow. I mean, wow. What else can happen? This is insane.
October 25th, 2009 at 6:51 pmI knew CRAYTON wouldn’t let me down!!!!
October 25th, 2009 at 6:52 pmWe’d better get some respect after this win.
October 25th, 2009 at 7:22 pmWow great game by Romo and Austin and the D sure did pick up their game. This is the way the team needs to play. Now if only we can fix those penalties. Romo was Romo today and did not throw an interception that is what we need from him and Austin is helping him get back to his self. Romo to Austin is starting to sound real good.
October 25th, 2009 at 7:45 pm..Nice to see the Hat and his child MBIII suck on it..Romo kicks azz and you two must be shocked..
Listen to the Bevo and you won’t be wrong…
Go Cowboys….Go Romo..Down with the haters…
October 25th, 2009 at 8:28 pmI still stand by what I said about Romo’s performance in the KC game. I’ll continue to stand by it too. Yeah, Romo was great today and no I wasn’t shocked. I’ve seen this Romo before. It’s the Romo we’ll be missing come later in the year, just like years past. I’ve gotten all pumped on Romo after a big game or two, but then everything goes all wrong. I’m not a hater, I’m just wary of bragging too loudly about him because this brilliant Romo usually doesn’t stick around for too long. Contrary to what you may believe in your warped, feeble mind, I want Romo to succeed more than anything. I just know better than to make any assumptions about him.
October 25th, 2009 at 9:00 pmMBIII..We win as a team and lose as a team..Romo is like the President..He gets too much of the blame and too much of the credit..
I will say one thing..It is amazing how good a Qb can look when he has a WR he has confidence in..
Just a thought…The only bad passes he threw were to RW..Makes me think Roy was out of position..
Great win..Time for all fans to celebrate..I have to give a little..being the official Romo appoligist here..
October 25th, 2009 at 9:05 pmLet me rephrase something: “It’s the Romo we’ll be missing come later in the year…”
I mean to say that we might see Romo’s play slip later in the year. I don’t mean to predict that it will. I hope he succeeds and takes us to the Super Bowl. But if the past is any indicator, then we may see Romo play poorly again late in the year.
October 25th, 2009 at 9:08 pmI hope he plays like this the rest of the year. That was a great Romo this time. He played like his wild style throwing deep balls making a disaster play into big play without the INTERCEPTIONS. If he can keep that up the Cowboys are a team to be afraid of. Im like you MBIII I dont get my hopes up to soon done that way to much. Man I have been wanting Austin to be a starter like two years ago and now it has finaly happened. Last year Austin was starting to show his talent in the preseason but got hurt. I love how he is fast and FIGHTS for the ball that is a good receiver and could help Tony out a lot down the road.
October 25th, 2009 at 9:44 pmMBIII..Man you just can’t give the man his due..He catches hell all year and when he has a good game..Oh well..he’ll screw it up later..Good Grief!
It’s almost like you get joy in him failing..I said it before and I will say it again..All QB’S have good and bad games..Romo had a great game..he will have bad ones..Just the nature of the job..
October 26th, 2009 at 12:20 am“Romo was great today”=his due.

October 26th, 2009 at 10:00 amSo who is going to buy a Miles Austin Jersey? hehe
Penalties are still an Issue. If I’m correct I counted 7 in the 1st half alone.
Romo was great and he didnt turn the ball over thats the important part.
Roy Williams is officially a bust. Thank god for Miles Austin he’s been picking up the slack.
October 26th, 2009 at 10:14 amNumber 9 my wife has been wanting one for like 2 years. She was going to want me to customize it since they did not make him. Now they have it and I am still going to have to customize it because she wants it to be different from everyone else lol. I think Roy ribs are still bothering him some because he has good hands should not have dropped those balls. He was getting open pretty well and 99% of the time would have caught those balls. Man if he would have caught those balls and if Romo did not throw the ball at his feet on one he would have had a good game also. Makes you think if him and Tony can get on the same page that we might have some good receivers to try to stop. Plus Witten and Bennett things are starting to look good.
October 26th, 2009 at 2:51 pmI’m trying to give Williams a pass because he is injured but the 2 balls that he dropped were pretty darn catchable. Also Romo and Williams just don’t seem to have any chemistry at all.
October 27th, 2009 at 11:32 amI’m still waiting on Roy. He deserves a full season at least and that’s what I’m going to give him. These things don’t happen overnight.
October 27th, 2009 at 12:20 pmi am forever the optimist here and you guys know that. last year when roy came here it was a complete shambles with owens on the cuff week in and week out. he did’nt get the repore with romo he needed. roy and romo worked hard this off season and by the way it sounded had good chemistry there. roy gets off to a slow start, poor play calling from our O-cord, and now cracked ribs. these are set backs that slow the process down. i’m glad to see austin let the jets loose, and start to peak. i do think this will translate well with roy, witten, and the entire offense. it always takes one guy to break out. roy will start to get back in the stride now i do believe. you know witten is’nt lighting up the nfl either? give it some time. like mb3 said, give it the season and then see where he’s at. remember choice did’nt break out till late last year, when???? when we needed him. so roy will be there as well. patience…….
October 27th, 2009 at 2:34 pmlet me ask the roy bashers one honest question; what would you say about roy if he did nothing all year. then the last game of the season we’re tied with philly for the division. winner takes it. roy goes out and has 12 catches for 175 tds and 2 tds and wins the game for us after doing nothing all year???? would you still be bashing him even as looking the gift horse in the mouth? hey stranger things have happened in this nfl. give it the full season and see how it plays out.
October 27th, 2009 at 2:38 pmi really think we are sitting well at this point of the season; washing is DONE……philly is a walking mash unit again…..and the giants have lost 2 straight……weneed to play consistent football on both sides of the ball, and we can really win thgis division. but in order to be consistent it will take various players to come up to the plate and have hot streaks a various points of the season. roy will have his. give it time
October 27th, 2009 at 2:47 pmsorry about that last post, i was in a hurry and did’nt proof it.
October 27th, 2009 at 2:49 pmDavedallasfan I dont think people are really bashing Roy they are just upset that we gave up so much. For the money and the picks we should atleast see more of a Boldin type receiver. You are right though he has had some set backs and I believe he would have had a good game this week if it was not for his ribs bothering him. Its not going to take one game to prove to every one he is true talent even if its a game against Philly for the division. He needs to show every one that he is going to do it more than one game. I think he might come through soon because the game this week he was open and getting seperation just did not catch the ball. Which I blame it on his ribs and thats because we all know that Roy has great hands. I am giving him till the end of the year for I completely rule him out. The one thing that did disappointment me about him though was when he did not come in I believe on the Denver game at the end. I know his ribs took a beaten but tell me that Irvin or Emmitt would not have been out there. He could of atleast came in to set up a different look for the defense.
October 27th, 2009 at 3:06 pmyeah, i will give him till the end of the year too. at that point if he does’nt come thru this year for us then i will be the first to say-bust. but i just don’t think he will be. he was good for detroit and he will be for us. maybe we did give too much, i don’t know? that will be again determined at the end of the year. but my point was if he does’nt do anything at all year, and has one all out game to help us win the division would he be still a bust? how do you gage a bust? is their some stat line measurement that would dictate weather he has past the bust stats or he made it. would it be like 60 catches 800yds 5 tds or something like that? or would he be a success if the defense rolled his way with doubles all season long opening single coverage for everyone else and suffered for his numbers? how does one measure success and what roy would mean for his offense? just not sure where everyone guages him to be. ? i guess for a first round pick, everyone considers 1000yds and 10 tds a success.? if austin, witten, and crayton can get good numbers because roy takes the double, i would consider that a success. that is something owens would never have been happy with because he was’nt a team player. roy seems to be a good team player, and does’nt put his own stats first. so i respect that.
October 27th, 2009 at 8:40 pmI just want to see him have a few solid games. The stats don’t really matter to me. I want to see him cut back on the dropped passes and just do something good for the offense. He’s great when he catches a pass and can push around the cornerback, so I want to see him do that more often.
October 27th, 2009 at 9:40 pmI dont know I think for what he is getting paid he would have to have around 800 or more yards and 8 or more touch downs. We have to understand he is our number 1 receiver. He will not ever have double coverage either because he is not a threat either. Austin is more likely to get double coverage and he is not getting paid like he is. I was excited when we picked Roy up so I dont want to see him be a bust. Sorry to say but Roy is more like another Crayton so far lets just hope its his ribs making him drop those balls. I think Romo was actually on the same page with Roy this week the balls were right where they needed to be besides the one that hit his feet. So I am not giving up yet because any other day Roy would have caught those balls and he would have had a good game maybe 100 yards if he caughts those balls. Maybe he is scared Romo is throwing him into a wall again lol just kidding.
October 27th, 2009 at 11:02 pmyeah i see you guys’ points on roy. i’d like to see him have a couple of good games in as well. no, the stats don’t mean anything to me either, and they really should’nt…..i’ll tell you that if he could put together 2-3 good games in a stretch, all would be forgotten at this point. he just needs to get on the same page. romo-austin-roy/ could-would-should…..it’ll come
October 28th, 2009 at 12:36 amMan I have been watching Austin’s highlights. He is using his speed as soon as he gets of the line. Even when they are pressing him some he gets out of that. Whats really impressive also is that when he catches the ball he does not get tackled right away. He breaks a tackle then takes it in for a touchdown.
