Dallas Cowboys Beat Kansas City Chiefs In Ovetime

Some unsuspecting Dallas Cowboys players had a fantastic day and were the reason the Cowboys defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in overtime at Arrowhead.

Miles Austin set a Cowboys record for wide receivers. Austin had an incredible 250 yards receiving.

Keith Brooking also had another impressive game and has proven that he is a step above the player he replaced,  Zach Thomas. He had eight tackles and a sack.

A win is a win. The Cowboys should not have struggled as much as they did against the 0-5 Chiefs.

So why was the game so close? Thirteen penalties and four fumbles with two lost is one reason. The second reason is the head coach Wade Phillips and offensive coordinator Jason Garrett are knuckleheads.

Tony Romo wasn’t accurate on two red zone plays and Nick Folk missed his second field goal of the season.

All I am saying is this happens all the time. Romo has some great game against someone that he should have had a great game against. Then everyone comes on here and says Romo is back and he is such a great QB when you should all wait till he keeps this up into the playoffs or at the end of the season. Hell atleast wait until after the bye when we play teams that have more than one win Carolina was the only team that we have played that has won a game. True fans stand by their team? Dont try to say who is a true fan and who is not. Im sorry that I care about this team enough to point out their problems that need to be fix. I dont know how many times I have wore my Jersey after we lost in the most horrible ways. I was born a Cowboys fan and had many arguments with my uncle because he has been a 49ers fan forever. I also have a friend that is an Eagles fan and I stand up for this team everytime. Its a blog everyone has their own opinions. Also we have two losses and the main reason we have those losses is because of Wade Phillips he has no disipline if we did we wouldent have had so many penalties which causes this team to have problems beating them self. Romo and this team need a real coach.

OK..I'M BACK!!!

MBIII..Don't make me nickname you Captain Dumbazz..I will and others will follow..lol..

DaveDallasFan..get you azz back here and help me with these guys..

Wade gets a lot out of the guys Jerry brings in. Zach Thomas last year, Brooking this year. Sensabaugh looks pretty good too.

Good call, TD. Opponents are usually backed up pretty deep in their own ends when they get the ball and that's making a huge difference for our defense.

I think what bothers me most about Romo is his inconsistency, especially inside the red zone. The Cowboys had two possessions inside the red zone and came away with six points. That's the kind of thing that will lose us games down the road. It'll be a big help when Marion Barber is back at 100 percent for his running ability, his pass blocking (which will free us Jason Witten) and the receiving threat he brings out of the backfield. Still, in the last nine red zone possessions, we've only scored two touchdowns and we've failed to score on three of those possessions. That's the kind of thing that will lose the Cowboys games down the road. Some of that falls on Jason Garrett, but a lot falls on Romo as well.

You are absolutely right about Keith Brooking. Great free agent acquisition... What would we do without Bill Parcells? Thanks to Wade we have Bobby Carpenter.

Oh wait.. Is it the other way around?

Lol I had to explain to my buddy who the kid who led with his helmet in a border-line late tackle on special teams was... He was #18 =)

They won't stop yelling or bitching, I figured this would happen. True fans stick by their team, and stick to their guns.

Others just enjoy conflict.

Others just enjoy the bandwagon.

I have a fairly good idea this post is just for conflict. To say Romo wasn't accurate is ridiculous. I remember a few beautiful passes and several ordinary, expected passes. I also remember a few that got away.

Sounds like a typical performance.

Definitely needs to be spiced up with some bloggerism.

And to pull a win off after your players make some dumb plays and turnovers means you really can't put it all off on the coaches.

But they're the scapegoats that, when conflict ensues, you can't leave out of the equation.

Did we mention Jerry anywhere in here?

Guess this wasn't so creative after all..

Im posting this again because I feel its a good discussion topic and to get you guys to stop yelling at each other...considering we all like the same team.
Has anyone else noticed the SPECIAL TEAMS play? Im sorry but I can’t remember the last time the Cowboys blocked 2 field goals in a season let alone 5 games. The coverage looks great and besides slow ass Patrick Crayton fielding punts im really impressed on how our ST has played. Also the rookie kicker Buehler is a beast. He kicks a touchbacks almost everytime and thats one kicker you don’t wanna get hit by. Hats off to our Special Teams and the coach!

Man I knew it was coming, but not like this.

All of you that are hating on Romo and the Cowboys PROBABLY think the Giants are somethin' else.

"Look at the Giants do this," "Look how they do that," "Why can't we do what they do"

Who the hell have they played? They beat us in a 2-point 4th quarter comeback even after Romo and Felix tried to hand them the game. Other than that, I think there's like a combined 4 wins from their opponents.

But you're all right, we just suck.

What the hell has happened to this site?  All the little pissing contests and computer cussing at each other..... I blame twitter.

Anyone who complains about Romo this week is a goober.

hey bevomav, we love ya man. we know real cowboy fans, and we back ya. bleed blue and silver.......they can't stop us from voicing our opinions. fact is fact, and stat is stat, and i hear you brother all the way.  i'm kinda feelin the same thing at this point, because of adam best. i think i'll sign off too.

I take that back, Bevo. I forgot about Ian and RG.

OH yea..so dave post something he doesn't like and MBIII calls me the stupidest mother f**ker on this site..Dave get banned and it is fine to call me out..No double standard there..

He no fu**ing problem..I leave it to you smart guys..Funny I thought Landry Hat was a place for Cowboy fans..Imagine the sh*t I am getting by being pro Cowboys..

It is all yours..You can have this place..I am done here..

texas, i agree, but when someone hides behind the term "journalist" and posts some stupid shit that he thinks is relavent to any thing and thinks he's cute about it, better have the nadds to stand up to some crucial critisim then. i was a fan of owens when he was here, and when some one on his blog pubically calls him a cocksucker, that is going beyond the realm of journalism into into just plain baby assed unsportsmanship. you can print your opinion, your thoughts, and your knowledge of the game, but to smash and try to hurt under the written pen of published vulgarity is beyond acceptable. and i said it and i stand by it. adam best sucks and so does his veiw. and i'm entiteled to my veiw on the matter as well.

Has anyone else noticed the SPECIAL TEAMS play? Im sorry but I can't remember the last time the Cowboys blocked 2 field goals in a season let alone 5 games. The coverage looks great and besides slow ass Patrick Crayton fielding punts im really impressed on how our ST has played. Also the rookie kicker Buehler is a beast. He kicks a touchbacks almost everytime and thats one kicker you don't wanna get hit by. Hats off to our Special Teams and the coach!

As for Wade Phillips and Jason Garrett I can't wait  until they are both out of here. WP is a cream puff and looks confused every time the cameras on him and JG can't figure out how to score with T. Romo, J.Witten, M. Barber, F. Jones, T. Choice, R. Williams, M. Austin and M. Bennett.

Also Davedallasfan its football and people hate the Dallas Cowboys and that goes for almost every non cowboys fan. It makes them have a laugh I am sure there is Cowboys fans that probaly do the same thing to other teams. I guess other teams are getting bored of Homo which I though was just the stupiest one out there its like elementry school.

Anyways this is a blog and people get to have there own opinions and that is what makes football great. I just dont think Romo is where you think he is Bevomav until he does it when it counts

20 for 34…350 yards..2 td’s..and a QB rating of over 113… dont show me his stats against KANSAS CITY or his 13-3 season or any of that crap show me wins that mean the most like the Eagles last year or how bout the Giants in the Playoffs in his 13-3 season that everyone thinks he is great for.  No one thinks Romo is a bad QB they just point out his F**K UPS which is mostly thanks to that sorry ass coach Wade Phillips for no disipline and the reason we have so many penalties.  Your so impressed to point out his 350 yards when two of those touchdown passes where him just trying to get a short safe pass and Austin broke tackles to make them big plays which give him most of that yardage. Imagine if he didnt get those broken tackles a sorry game for Romo. What if Austin didnt save Romo ass when he came back for the pass and stole it from the CB that had an interception what would that have done for his rating. Romo has done this before but has not proved himself tell he atleast wins a playoff game. You can then rub it in all you want. I dont see Romo being a great QB until he gets a real coach.

We see what we want to see from Romo because it's all there! He's good some throws, sometimes he's horrible. Sometimes he's accurate, sometimes he couldn't hit the broad side of the barn. My problem with Romo is his inconsistency and, against a bad team in Kansas City, he still wasn't a very consistent quarterback. That's why I'm not saying he had a great day. Throw up numbers all you want. You know I'm right.

Bevo, you have to be the stupidest motherf*cker on this site. Do you remember second and goal from the four? A quarterback having a "great" day completes one of those two passes. How about the 14:23 minute mark in the fourth quarter? Romo completes a 34-yard pass to Austin. Austin has to come back and go over the defender to make the catch, a great one. The point I'm trying to make here is Miles Austin had the great day. Those two touchdown passes that Romo threw to Austin were short routes and Austin does all the hard work. He breaks two tackles on each of his touchdown catches. Romo wasn't bad. He was good. But he wasn't great. The reason why I'm arguing so intently with you is to show that there are plenty of fans out there that need to reel it in a little bit and live in the real world. There's more out there than looking at stats and pointing out someone's quarterback rating. Pump the brakes on Romo, Bevo.

dan, i see that you have me blocked and that is fine. i understand that adam is the owner of the fansided blogs and i wanted no problems for you, but i was very mad at the little post he made, and the reference to owens as a cocksucker was wrong at any level, so i spoke my peace. DAVE

"Good points, Tex"....Suck up..

So when did the offense go three and out..and we are talking bout Romo..The offense had 4 first half possessions..ON three of those they had at least one 1st and 20..That stopped the drives..not Romo's bad play..

If you must argue, please use facts..not your huntches..and the facts are...

20 for 34...350 yards..2 td's..and a QB rating of over 113...

Argue all you wish..pat your shared ignorance on the backs..but you can't change what happened..Romo was great and so was Miles Austin..

Dan is cool..Notice he hasn't went off..He can defend himself..It was meant as a joke..may not have came out that way but that was the way it was meant..

Go Cowboys...Go Romo..

Good points, Tex.

Your right the defense has not been all that bad. They do good at the begining of the games when they have energy. Then you have the offense that has to punt after a 3 and out and fumbles they get no rest.

Nobody is really ragging on Romo they are giving you facts he is a good QB but due to the coaching staff he turns out to be below average. Second we played winless Chiefs. Romo has to be good for us to be good??? Austin was GREAT for us to win. Take Austin out of the game then what did we have? Let me guess a couple ten yard route to Witten and Fumbles by Crayton. Austin also saved a interception by fighting for the ball on that deep ball. Austins droped touchdown pass is just part of this being his first start. How often does he get that pass? This team does play good when Romo does but dont try to act like Austin didnt fight for half of Romo's passing stats. What I did notice was a huge trust build up between Romo and Austin. Romo started to throw more balls his way even when he was being covered something he has not been able to do since T.O. left. Now the rest of the season is against better teams not  Tampa Bay, Carolina, and Kansas City. I said this before the game you can not grade this team until after the bye. Romo will only be as good as the coaches make him and neither Wade or Garrett is doing the job.

So why are you hating on Dan for using it? And why do you get to say "told ya so"? What exactly is so great about not throwing an interception against Kansas City? Where was Tony Romo with his game-winning arm on the first drive of overtime? He needed the defense to bail him out twice after he went three and out on the first drive of overtime. I certainly didn't miss that. I was on the edge of my seat and thanking my lucky stars for the defense coming up big twice in overtime. You also have to give them some of the blame for letting us get to overtime in the first place. The defense let Kansas City march right down the field to tie the game up. Some of that goes back to playcalling. But on 3rd and 14 on a pass down the middle of the field, you have to make a play. Orlando Scandrick got beat. I'm going to be cautiously optimistic about Tony Romo through this week. It'll really help to have most of our injured players healed up (Jones, Williams, Barber, Sensabaugh) but there's a difference between bashing him and making honest criticisms. Here, I'll show you an honest criticism: Tony Romo owes Miles Austin big for breaking all those tackles on his two touchdown runs because, without those two plays, there's a decent chance that we don't win that game.

Nobody owes anybody an apology. This is football.

bevomav, my last comment is awaiting moderation, here is the link www.FanSided.com/the best view/

UH..I have a twitter acct..@bevomav..I don't post much but I follow some..also a facebook..everyone is way too serious..I am a Romo appologist and this is my week..oops with the bye..my next two weeks to say "I told ya so"...Live with it and hope for more..Romo has to be good for us to win...

When is the last time this defense has stopped someone and won the game?  I don't mean half the game or most of the game..I mean the end of game..There is a pattern here..Sorry you are so obsessed with ragging Romo that you miss it..BTW...

Ya think Tom Brady owes  Tony  an apology?..He ran his fu**ing head about Romo and Denver..Then went out and was shut out in the second half while completing 5 or 14 passes...

I got it during training camp and had the updates from certain people sent to my phone. I basically had a play-by-play of training camp on my phone. That got me addicted, Number 9.

bevomav, it is in www.FanSided.com, /the Best veiw/"tony and to's couple's vacation retreat."   i guess it's just more stupid then anything, but this man calls himself a professional journalist and he shows he has less then that of a 10 year old. reminds me of that little girl on tv that sets up the little slide shows with the A-TEAM music added to it........this fansided network is just awesome for the average fans like us to say a few things and hear a few things about our team. i love it. and i love all you crazy cowboy fans as well as those great fans from other teams too. i just expected more from adam as the leader of fansided blogs to show more when all his team bloggers do. as a chiefs fan he can have any opinion that he wants, his choice, but when he writes childish, idiotic shit like he did in a total moronic scence of posting just to stab back at the team that beat his is as i've said, assnine. i'll stand behind what i said...... dan, i do want to say this as  an attack on you in any way shape or form. i applaud you for your hard work and dilegence at this site. i do know that you are a diehard cowboy fan and you can understand my utter distaste for adam best and his "journalism". please except my oppllogies to vent my frustrations here. not intended to cause problems for you in anyway and thank you for letting me be a voice on your blog......calling terrell owens a cocksucker, or anyone else for that matter, is wrong in the face of true journalism. owens is many things, but was a good dallas cowboy as a player on the field. he worked hard here, earned his money, and took being released as well as could be asked. he's moved on with his life and we as cowboy fans for the most have too. so where adam best is hitting, i'm not sure, but he has shown that he is classless, and very raw at "best" in his journalistic venture. how does it feel to be told you suck by someone that has no journalistic experience at all. ? you suck, adam best, and so does your "veiw".

Twitter is a very nice tool but not everyone has caught on with it yet. I 'don't think it works for everyone. I can certainly get by without it but its still cool.

Bevo,
Romo was still high on a lot of his throws. That leads me to think that he's not completely comfortable in the pocket. If you're counting the pass to Austin as a drop, then you shouldn't. Sure, it hit him on the hands, but Tony didn't make it easy on his receiver. In the NFL, less receivers make that catch than miss it. Calling him inaccurate might be rough, but he wasn't really accurate yesterday either. And shut up about Twitter. You might think it's stupid, but it's a great way to make real-time commentary about a game and have a lot of people follow it. Dan does a lot to make this site accessible to a lot of people, and he deserves credit for that. It's not your fault that you aren't bright enough to see the benefits of Twitter.

Come on dave..The co**sucker part was a bit over the top but the thing was amusing..I am the biggest Romo appologist ever! Have a little sense of humor..

AND DON'T LEAVE...

this maybe the last post i make here, i guess it will be up to landry hat dan and his boss adam best, so here goes;      i just read that worthless piece of crap that adam best calls a news story about tony and terrells vacation retreat. what a assnine piece of crap. (calling owens a cocksucker was pathetic)....adam best is a whinny little crybaby schoolgirl of a footaball fan that happens to be a chiefs fan. (i am sorry for you boys in k.c.)  to write that post and put your name to it should be embarrassing enough, but to drag other chiefs fans into the pit is worse. grow up and face the facts that your chiefs suck, you suck, and you're 0-5.   you have the journalistic skills of a five year old. i may not be the best at spelling or grammar, but i always have something impairative to say about my cowboys or the situation they're in. you on the other hand just cry and retailiate like a damn poor sport, little sniveling brat. you got this coming best, because i've read your posts about your view, and from what i've gathered, you don't know shit  as a sports fan and you suck as a journalist. if freedom of speech is the utmost importance as you say it is, then you'll let this post stand so everyone else can read it too, other wise my thoughts of you are correct, you are nothing more than a hypocrite.  you have a great site here on fansided blogs, but maybe you should leave the journalism to thse that actually know how? .......i urge all cowboy fans to read this little bitches' take on the tony romo and terrrell owens in his little "news piece"........"tony nd t.o.'s couples retreat"  just plain assnine and stupid

I think at the end of the loss in Denver, where Romo had that amazing throw to Hurd was the turn of the corner. He made a few off balance throws again this game. He is getting his "swagger" back.

But Wade and Garrett are not who I want  leading us to the promised land

This is really cool.

bevo and colorblind, i agree. i thought romo looked as good as he has all year. thats not saying he was or is at his peak now.  but the fact is he stepped up and got it done in the clutch. big win for the boys and big esteem builder for a struggling romo at this point. austin did what he should, he helped his qb. that is really what the position is all about. the great ones always know when to come back for the ball and how to break a small throw into a big gain. that builds the qb confidence. that is what i saw yesterday. we got a long ways to go, but we are 3-2 and going into a bye week at the right time. we may have taken a giant turn into righting the course of this ship?

i hate to say this, but if we don't go deep into the playoffs this year wade for sure and maybe garrett will be gone. those names you just mentioned there would be great candidates for head coach. gruden or billick would be the best. everyone would go and say shannahan or cowher, but gruden knows how to work with a hands on owner, and billick would be fantastic with romo as a mentor. sometimes you don't need the biggest name to make the biggest impact. steve mariuchi would be fantastic too.....but i am still backing wade phillups as i have in the past. i may have been one of the only few that have. if shanny were to come here, he would probably want to retain wade as D cord? the main thing that jerry would have to give up in his quest for the right coach is the opportunity to build the coaching staff. i'm not sure he would, and that would be important to a big name coach. that is why wade is a factor in dallas. he just focuses on the team, D mostly, and does is job. jerry does the rest. so wade can't take all the blame here. jerry wears alot of hats, and nobodies firing him anytime soon.

Yea... to say Romo wan inaccurate just isn't true.  He hit Austin and Hurd in the hands in the endzone.  The ball Austin dropped on that third and goal was an absolutely perfectly placed pass.

On another play(can't remember if they were in the redzone or not) Romo placed a the ball within Austins reach and he bobled the touchdown away.  This was the best Romo's played since week one.

Were in not for our insistance on pounding the rock with a 60% healthy MBIII we'd have put the game away long before overtime.

I disagree. Romo still didnt look so great. Sure he had 350 yards but 250 were to Austin, and the two long TDs you have to credit Austin for making the play, its not like Romo threw some bombs down field. He did play way better than the last few games with that being said. Some of my friends cant stand Romo, I am not in that boat. I will not jump ship with Romo until I see a really good coach take him under his wing. You cannot expect Romo to get better and maximize his potential when we have a horrendous joke of a head coach and an overrated and predictable offensive coordinator. We have so many weapons on our offense we should be as prolific as the New Orleans offense. We definitely have the weapons and playmakers to have an offense like that, and the fact that we dont points to the coaching.

We are PATHETIC with penalties. Honestly I just laugh now it is to be expected. Whenever we make a good play I just know we are due for a Flozell false start or a Columbo holding call or whatever. Penalties anger me more than anything. But once again, this falls on the coaching staff and their lack of intensity and discipline. And for the defense, they play great and then give up the big plays at the end time and time again. I thought Wade Phillips was supposed to be focusing on the defense and bringing it to the next level? We have great playmakers on defense with Bradie James, DeMarcus Ware and Ratliff, and sometimes Terence Newman when he doesnt injure his groin every other week.

Point is, the coaching staff sucks and needs to go. It is utterly pathetic that we barely got by Kansas City, a team we should have destroyed. The Cowboys continue to be an incredibly talented above-average team that lacks discipline and plays like a below-average team and that falls on the coaches not the players. Especially our offense: Romo, Barber, Witten, Felix Jones, Choice, Williams, Crayton, Austin and Bennett... we should be confusing the hell out of defenses and keeping them always guessing. I am getting sick of this it is so frustrating. Where is Shanahan???????????? Hell I'll take John Gruden, Brian Billick...anyone...

Im not trying to make excuses but i think KC had alot of familiarities with the Cowboys. they looked looked prepared and ready to play. I hope with the coming bye week every one can get healed up, correct the mistakes and get focused on the Falcons.

This from the Dallas Morning News..Grade on Romo..You see what you want to see..like most Romo haters..

High: Romo rebounds

Question: Did Romo manage the game, or did he go out and help win it with his arm? Answer: both. He had more than 350 yards through the air with two touchdowns and no interceptions. He also had at least two other touchdown throws that were dropped. This is the best Romo has looked since the season opener. The tentative approach that crept into his game the last two weeks was gone. This was Romo at his best.

I am really tiring of this Romo bashing..It is everywhere and stupid..He had two passes dropped in the end zone..and of course no mention of the defense, once again, not making a stop in a end of game situation.

Folk missed the field goal when the holder didn't turn the laces away..

Maybe you should stay off twitter and watch the game. You seem to miss a lot..You sure you actually watched the same game?

I disagree with those that say we are not as talented a team as we would like to be.

We are just a poorly coached one.
