Jesse Holley’s Dream With Dallas Cowboys

Getty ImagesDoes Jessy Holley have any chance to make the Dallas Cowboys team after locking up the 80th spot on the team by winning Michael Irving’s 4th and Long reality television special?

Probably not, but the guy did show some decent skill on the show. But who is he?

Well, to start, he is a champion. He played on the North Carolina Tarheels 2005 NCAA basketball championship. He also played football there. Holley led the team with 47 receptions for 670 yards in his junior year. He was ranked fifth in the league in receiving yards per game and sixth in receptions

He is 6-foot 3-inches tall and 215 pounds, which is a pretty big receiver. He had a brief and unsuccessful period with the British Columbia Lions of the Canadian Football League. He was signed by the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent in 2007.

Probably the biggest roadblock in this kid’s way is the fact that the Dallas Cowboys are heading into training camp with 11 wide receivers—and that’s without Terrell Owens.

The odds are against him..He will be competing with five or six guys for one roster spot...
The Boys will keep 5 WR's...Crayton..RW..Austin and Hurd are under contract..leaving the one spot..

Hopefully the coaching staff doesn't overlook him as a novelty. I'm sure he'll hear it from the other players.

hey i hope he makes it. it would be the feel good story line thing. but at 6'3" and 215? he 's got the size, and has good hands. speed? probably no, but those big guys rarely do. but he's had more training than anyone who went thru the ota's. who knows? but looking at 11 wrs, besides williams-crayton-austin-hurd-, who else is even a chance wr for us.......he might be better then the rest of the 7 left? thats why they try out. you can't measure heart and he's already shown he's got that for sure.

I stopped watching about mid season but Irvin put these guys through the ringer. Holley definitely had to earn it. I was a big fan of Hawkins. When did he get bumped? Holley definitely has the odds against him but how many first year players got to get trained by Joe Avezzano and Bill Bates before training camp. Not to mention the opportunity to pick the brains of Michael Irvin, Jerry Rice, Drew Pearson, Kelvin Martin, Jay Novacek and Roger Staubach. He had to gather some tricks of the trade that will give him a chance.

not really. more strength, high flyer

Good post. I hardly watched any of that show. Does the guy have wheels?
