Getting Close With Mike Jenkins

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 8 Comments |

The Landry Hat had an interview with Dallas Cowboys cornerback Mike Jenkins yesterday and I will post the audio of the chat here sometime this week. But I wanted to entice you a little bit and provide you with some of the highlights of the interview.

First off, Jenkins has a new blog. Check it out here. Add it to your favorites. He told me personally that he updates it often. He is also on Twitter.

  • Did you know that Jenkins had no idea the Cowboys were interested in him. He said he never spoke to anyone with the organization before he was drafted in the first round last year. I find it odd because Jenkins said he had to learn an entirely new defense.
  • Jenkins thought he was going to be drafted by the Saint or Patriots.
  • In the interview, he talks about the Terrell Owens situation.
  • On his own blog, Jenkins says he is going to be the starting right cornerback, but with me he admitted that he still has a lot to learn about the Cowboys defensive schemes and he’s working hard to improve. Even his own blog is titled “Far from my Peak.”

  1. there’s all this talk about jenkins and scandrick battling it out for the starter job, but think about this senario; on passing downs jenkins and scandrick playing the corners with newman playing the slot or inside positions? he did it some in the past and it worked out fine. i could see it happening this year as both the kids develop into shut down guys. would keep newman fresher into the 4th qrtrs of tight games.????

In other news, Brandon Jacobs is a reeeeeaaaaalll cock.

I mean, Eli is far worse than Romo — and the only argument against that is the Superbowl that Patrick Crayton GAVE to them, and the lucky plays and phenomenal catches…. Oh yeah but ELI did it, not the rest of the team. Eli is a Trent Dilfer as far as I’m concerned.

I just found out that Mike J. And my sister in law are good friends. Pretty damn cool.

  4. Their defense carried that team, and should be praised as such. All that Eli did was not turn the ball over through the playoffs. Everyone is dogging on Romo like crazy after last year because he couldn’t lead his team to the playoffs. Dude had to play with a throwing hand finger in a splint. People like to make fun of him because it was his pinky finger, but it messed with his accuracy for sure. Also, everyone is counting us out already, but I think we’re in a much better position to make a deep run in the playoffs. We have a competent backup quarterback, three strong backs and a better defense. Toward the end of the year, we’ll probably be able to rely heavier on a running game to help take some of the pressure off of Romo.

I have to agree with you, there was alot of pressure on Tony Romo to throw the ball on almost every 3rd and long, even if he passed for the previous 2 downs.  I think it was poor coaching with no strategy amongst the offensive side.  Alot of people that just hate the Cowboys for reason unknown, and will jump at a chance to say we are not worthy,  I think we will lead them off this year and we’ll break out.  Hopefully our secondary and special teams been drilled to know how important they are.

  6. KD says:

It’s not negative about Romo but it could highlight made up negative aspects about Romo so we may see something about it here: Romo and Jess are no more.

  7. good, maybe now he’ll just masterbrate and get down to keep his “head” in the game and playing football
