Cash For Clunkers: Who Will the Dallas Cowboys Consider Parting With?

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 14 Comments

With all of the talk surrounding the federal government’s “cash for clunkers” program to spur car purchases, I thought I’d come up with a list of Dallas Cowboys who might be clunkers this year and lose their spot on the team. There aren’t a ton, but these guys really need to step up or the Cowboys will have to look elsewhere for the talent.
1. Bobby Carpenter
Dude, you were a 1st round pick in 2006 and all you’ve done is provided some decent special teams help. You came from a college known for its tough defenses, yet you’ve shown very little [...]

Matt Jones: Agent Has Talked With Cowboys, 3 Other Teams

AUTHOR: thembiiieffect | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 24 Comments

Written by theMBIIIeffect
Former Jags receiver and Arkansas quarterback Matt Jones said in an interview with 103.7 FM in Little Rock that his agent has been in touch with the Dallas Cowboys, as well as the Titans, Bears and Jets according to True Blue writer Josh Ellis‘ blog.
Jones has had well-documented substance abuse issues and is now a free agent after being released by the Jaguars. Since no suspension was handed down by the NFL, Jones could participate fully in any training camp, preseason game and regular season game.
Jones was optimistic about his chances at a comeback.
“Things are looking good,” Jones [...]

So I was one of those people who swore up and down that I’d never get a Twitter account.
Whatever.
Today, I’m going back on my word. And I have a good reason.
Dallas Cowboys training camp is absurdly easy to follow thanks to the online updates from Dallas Cowboys Star’s and dallascowboys.com’s Josh Ellis.
I’m even getting his tweets sent directly to my cell phone, so I’ll stay in touch even if I’m not at a computer.
Just set up an account here. Then, search for Josh Ellis (he goes by DCStarJEllis) and you can follow the training camp action too.

Chris Cooley Attacks Dallas Cowboys And Fans

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

We’ve dealt with the likes of the Cooley family before. Chris Cooley, the tight end for the Washington Redskins, sent his little brother over here to attack me. You can read all about it here.
The problem is, the Cooleys have a problem with the truth. Our longtime friend Octopus apparently has a true story about Chris Cooley that keeps getting deleted. Well, Octopus, you have all the space you want in the comment section to post the story here. It will not get deleted. Tell you story about Chris Cooley.
But if you go to Chris Cooley’s site here you will [...]

Not As Big As Possible Phillies Trade, But Washington Redskins Say Not Signing Michael Vick ‘At This Juncture’

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Less than one day since I reported that the Washington Redskins are strongly considering signing Michael Vick to a two-year deal, the head coach says there is no interest “at this juncture.”
Oh really, Mr. Jim Zorn? What juncture are we at? The week of training camp?
Obviously Zorn is trying to hide the fact that the team is interested in the embattled quarterback who spent almost two years in prison for his part in a dog-fighting ring.
“I would just say it won’t be with us, at least at this juncture.”
This answer is what a lot of head coaches are saying. Miami [...]

Dallas Cowboys Running Game: Marion Barber, Felix Jones and Tashard Choice Pack A Punch

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

The Dallas Cowboys proved last season that it has one of the best, if not the best, backfields in the NFL. Two rookies shined last year in Felix Jones and Tashard Choice. Jones was running for Rookie of the Year before he injured his hamstring.
Choice came in and produced and ran for more yards against the Baltimore Ravens than any player last year—I know, it was still under 100 yards. But that’s not how we measure good backs anymore.
The Dallas Cowboys have a plethora of talent in these three guys and each of them deserves playing time. So what does [...]

Will Washington Redskins Sign Michael Vick?

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 22 Comments

There is no questions that Washington Redskins fans and coaches lost some faith in quarterback Jason Campbell last season. He just doesn’t look like a franchise quarterback.
So, have the Redskins turned their attention to embattled dog-killer Michael Vick, who the NFL reinstated Monday?
Several sources in Ashburn, VA, where the Redskins hold training camp, told The Landry Hat today that the Redskins do have interest in Vick and they plan to bring him in for a meeting next week.
Surely the Vikings and Lions might show some interest in the versatile quarterback at some point, but only Redskins owner Daniel Snyder has [...]

Michael Vick Welcomed Back To NFL

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 6 Comments

A little off topic here, but Michael Vick is back in the NFL. Commissioner Roger Goodell today said Vick could play as early as October. He is immediately allowed to participate in preseason practices and he can play in the final two preseason games.
The question is on what team will he play? The Detroit Lions? The Minnesota Vikings? The New York Jets?
“Needless to say, your margin for error is extremely limited,” Goodell said in a letter to Vick. “I urge you to take full advantage of the resources available to support you and to dedicate yourself to rebuilding your life [...]
