Cowboys’ McGee “Stunningly Refined” in Minicamp

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 13 Comments

By: thembIIIeffect A rookie’s first minicamp surely isn’t any kind of way to judge a player. But that won’t stop Dallas’ coaches from getting a little excited about Dallas Cowboys’ fourth round pick Stephen McGee. The former Texas A&M quarterback was labeled as a “project” and was thought to be a backup to backup quarterback Jon Kitna, but McGee has already turned a coaches heads, including quarterback coach Wade Wilson. According to this article by NFLDraftScout.com Senior Analyst Rob Rang, McGee is looking as good or better than lots of names called before him. With only three games in a [...]

Dallas Cowboys Will Release 11-year Veteran Greg Ellis

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 7 Comments

Greg Ellis‘ 11 years in Dallas are over. He had a topsy-turvy career in Dallas, but he was at times a force to be reckoned with. Ellis, who is eighth on the Cowboys all-time sack list with 77, did not attend practice with the team this week. He spoke with owner Jerry Jones and then shortly after Jones told the press—a rare moment of clarity before it is official–that Ellis is pretty much going to move on. Ellis had his own problems in Dallas. Although a trade would be the best option for the Cowboys, it is likely no team [...]

Terrell Owens on Twitter: Blame Tony Romo and Jason Garrett

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 27 Comments

Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Terrell Owens is on Twitter, the social networking site that allows a few characters of an update. Apparently, Owens was responding to a fan on his Twitter site. The fan said he was mad about Owens’ departure from Dallas. Owens responded that the blame should go to quarterback Tony Romo and offensive coordinator Jason Garrett. As Fanhouse rightly points out, and it is something none of us really need to be reminded about, but this is the same Owens who cried at the podium, proclaiming “That’s my quarterback” after an embarrassing loss to the New [...]

Dallas Cowboys Have No Interest In Michael Vick

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 6 Comments

Jerry Jones told reporters this week that the Dallas Cowboys are just fine with quarterback Tony Romo, and there are no plans to vie for Michael Vick, whom the NFL might reinstate this year. That is music to my ears. There are plenty of teams who would be more than happy to take the risk on the likes of Vick, but the Cowboys do not need to be among that special group. Maybe Vick could find a home with the Minnesota Vikings, the Miami Dolphins or the Tampa Bay Bucs. Just keep him out of Dallas. USA Today

Greg Ellis Getting Traded?

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 12 Comments

There’s a hot rumor out there now that Greg Ellis might be traded before the season begins. Ellis, although a crybaby, is a decent performer and has done well for the Dallas Cowboys, especially coming off some serious injuries. If Ellis is traded, it paves the way for Anthony Spencer to be the rook along side DeMarcus Ware. According to news stories, the Cowboys have put the Cincinnati Bengals and New England Patriots on their Ellis list. The Bengals could be the most likely fit, reunining Ellis with former teammate Roy Williams. But the Bengals do not have a whole [...]

Everson Walls Getting Bad Rap By Hall of Fame Voters

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 18 Comments

By MBIIIEffect Do you remember a cornerback in Dallas named Everson Walls?   No? Maybe this will jog your memory. (Warning: this video is not for the faint-of-heart Cowboys fans) You see Walls coming into frame at the end of the catch, wearing number 24. But because he made that last frame that is now immortalized in posters and highlight reels, he has forever been associated with that one play. And that association, according to Walls, could keep him out of the National Football League Hall of Fame. “I think a lot of people like to associate me with that play,” said [...]

Eminem Loves Tony Romo But Not His Fat Girlfriend

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

White rapper Eminem says he feels kind of bad about picking on Jessica Simpson in his video for “We Made You.” He picks on Simpson’s weight gain and shows her slopping down on a burger. But he says he feels bad because Tony Romo is one of his favorite quarterbacks. Romo has no comment so far. Eminem loves Romo

Jerry Jones Goofs On Cowboys Stadium Name

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 7 Comments

When Jerry Jones bought the Dallas Cowboys in the late 1980s, he wasn’t exactly a popular new owner. And then he rudely dismissed one of the greatest coaches of all time, Tom Landry. So, in these economic challenges, he cannot find a suitor for naming rights at the stadium. Clueless on what to do, Jones goes with the most obvious name he could come up with in his head: Cowboys Stadium. What a genius, right? Not so fast. Jerry Jones could have gained a lot of respect back if he had named the stadium after the legend who build the [...]

Peter King Has A Good Point: Dallas Cowboys Need To Run Ball More

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 15 Comments

In Peter King’s most recent Sports Illustrated column, he says that the Dallas Cowboys are a top-1o in the NFL, behind the regular favorites—New England, Pittsburgh, Indianapolis and New York Giants—and even some newbies in the Bears and Eagles. But at No. 9, he lays out how the Dallas Cowboys may finally be able to crack the secret code that gets you into the playoffs: Run the ball more. The Cowboys dropped back to pass more than 200 times than they ran the ball.  With three young running backs who all showed signs of greatness last year, there is no [...]

Roy Williams is a Bengal

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 6 Comments

By MBIIIEffect Former Dallas Cowboys safety Roy Williams has finally found a team. Williams agreed to terms with Cincinnati, and will join with former Cowboys defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer and former Cowboy Tank Johnson. Williams, a first-round draft pick out of Oklahoma in 2002, was one of four safeties in franchise history to make the Pro Bowl five times or more, joining Cliff Harris, Mel Renfro and Darren Woodson. The former Sooner recorded 611 tackles and 19 interceptions with the Cowboys before a fractured forearm found Williams a spot on the sidelines. Personally speaking, I’m sad to see Roy go. [...]
