Dallas Cowboys Take Quarterback Stephen McGee

Pat White was long gone. So that left the Dallas Cowboys with Stephen McGee as one their first 4th round pick.
McGee, a Texas A&M quarterback, is best known in Texas for upsetting the Texas Longhorns twice in his career. This guy is not known for his arm. He also had shoulder surgery and missed most of the 2008 season. But he was the Aggies top guy, and won leadership awards on the team. He was well-liked in Texas. But he is certainly a major work in progress.
Jason Williams back to safety? Sounds like they were looking for a Roy Williams clone there.

Something is up here. Hopefully they are just looking to the future of Greg Ellis not being around much longer, but 3? And still no DB’s.
And Staubach, all 3 of these guys are in the 240 to 250 LB range, so definately no safety move with these guys. Just stacking up on OLB depth.

April 26th, 2009 at 2:06 pmMcGee was a horrible pick. not that he can’t play, but he WONT SEE THE FIELD FOR 5 YEARS!!!!!! We could have our choice of a dozen QB’s with our last pick!! We didn’t need a QB this early. We don’t have the luxury of doing that.
This pick (101) should have been used on a SAFETY that could possibly start THIS year, and DEFINITELY next year. David Bruton or Chip Vaughn would have made a lot more sense at this spot.
Should have taken a NT/DT instead of the skinny DE from Texas Tech. IF we had a big guy to plug in the middle, it would allow us to move Ratliff outside periodically.
Not a very good day for the ‘Boys. Let’s hope they can sign some good FA’s in the next few hours!!

April 26th, 2009 at 7:02 pmi dont like this draft at all..we got a receiver that isnt fast nor does he have good hands…well dont we have one of those already? i believe his name is Sam Hurd…and then we get a QB that doesnt have an strong arm and is more of running QB then anything else..we lost a 300+ DE and we got 2 DE’s that weight around 250ish..and then the kicker..for real? i understand they want to get better at special teams but seriously..if he can punt then i agree we dont know is Mcbriar is coming back or not so as a security is an OK pick..i like both CBs we got..the S is an average pick..we will see how this works out
April 26th, 2009 at 7:24 pmi’m fine with this draft. we got some great value that slipped in the draft big , when we nailed some guys in the 5th and 7th that were maybe 3rd rnd talent. yeah we let a few get away, and i too hoped for some help at tackle. but……do you guys know how many good prospects go un-drafted???? they’ll be more comin
April 26th, 2009 at 7:37 pmNow it’s down to undrafted free agency. We playin smu and unt next year? The most overhyped team in the league. At least the media is realizing it now and not paying much attention to the Cowboys anymore at draft. no news….Top 10 draft pick next year.
April 26th, 2009 at 8:43 pmListen, I know we didnt make a huge splash in the Draft with well known or WOW player but I think we did pretty good. We added depth to our already solid team. We drafted players that should contribute to our special teams which sucked last year. If you remember the draft last year we picked up some guys after the 2nd round in the draft that made an impact on our team (Scandrick, Ball, Choice) so our scouting team seems to know what they are doing. I am pretty sure they know better than us. We need to stay possitive about how we did in the draft. I still think we need another proven WR, other than that we are good.
