NFL Draft and the Dallas Cowboys

I will be kayaking all afternoon so I won’t be back for most of the draft. Use the comments section to bark and roar about who the Dallas Cowboys take with No. 51.

When I return, I’ll likely have an interview with a guy who won a contest to spend the day with Jerry Jones in the draft war room. It should be interesting, and we might get some exclusive information about what the guys say in the room about the draft pick.

I predict the Cowboys will draft a safety first, and I doubt there is a ton of trading.

Comment away. We’ll get together later today!

I love betting on NFL. The crappy part is that I've lost about $ three this month. I think the most enjoyable part is doing the research and using research to find holes in the odds.

There are several guys left undrafted that Dallas might find a spot for. Emanuel Cook went undrafted as well as other safety prospects including Derek Pegues and Reshard Langford. C.J. Spillman from Marshall is another safety that could be a nice addition.

There were no NT prospects drafted at all, and one guy that could fit on our defensive front is Nader Abdallah from Ohio State. There are a couple of others there, but all seem to have off field issues.

Another LB that could be worth a look is Virginia's Antonio Appleby. He played alongside Clint Sintim and Chris Long and is familiar with the ILB position in the 3-4. Good size and better straightline speed than the 2 4th round picks Dallas chose.

A raw talent that could make one heck of a LT after some serious brushing up is Joel Bell. He is a small school guy that didn't get a lot of attention, but he could be that diamond in the rough that some of you have been talking about.

Also, two WR's that went undrafted that probobly shouldn't have are Kevin Ogletree and Aaron Kelly. Ogletree was Virginia's leading reciever last year (a possession guy) that happens to also have elite speed. He ran a 4.36. The knock on him is that he is an underclassman, but as a project he could be a great aquisition. Aaron Kelly is from Clemson, and for some reason Clemson is known for busts. BUT, ...watch this highlight video and tell me what you see. I see potential.

I am so far not liking the draft . I thought we should have jumped on Brandon Tate with our second third round pick. But we picked a Offensive lineman from a small school that runs the spread. Then a few picks later the Patriots picked Tate New England always drafts well.

If you go by Walterfootball, we are drafting guysmuch earlier who were rated to go in rounds 6-7 .

Dallas needs to bring a real footbaall man and tell Jerry Jones to just sign the checks, we are Detroit now.

Steam, man they should hire and pay big bucks to you at the Dallas Morning News

This will be kind of an interesting day. Dallas has traditionally done poorly in the second round. That was a good trade with Buffalo to bring in more bodies. I like it as well

This is the scouting report on Jason Williams - an athletic linebacker with outstanding speed and quickness. Williams has the ability to rush off the edge and is a potential playmaker as an outside linebacker/special teams player.

From the visitor list that Dan posted earlier this week, the only safety left that had a team workout is Clemson safety, Mike Hamlin. He is projected to be a third rounder. Dallas has two early third round picks. Another guy that slipped a little from all the rankings that I have seen is South Carolina OT Jamon Meridith. He played LG last year to groom their now LT, but he can play both guard and tackle. I think he makes sense with one of those picks, but we will see.

Did anyone see Jones interview after the draft? He admitted to liking the RB the Eagles picked up right after us, but said that we didnt need a rb and just let him go? Give the Eagles a freakin weapon? Thats about as smart as not worrying about them in the final week of the season last year. This kid is VERY Felix Jones-esque, add him in with Westbrook, Maclin, Jackson and there's not a team in the NFL that can cover that much speed. And we just laid down for them. Agian. Note to Jerry: Quantity doesnt equal quality. I'd rather have 2 decent to good players then 13 busts.

This makes what? 13 picks? The Cowboys should rule day 2. Well im off to get drunk. :D

It was a smart move to trade down, and it actually looked like at the time that Dallas had a shot at Sean Smith and Michael Hamlin. It would have been better if Dallas would have traded up to get Chung though. I am sure it would have been impossible with New England anyway... so , like I said . Smart move. Start it off with Hamlin tomorrow and still have 11 picks after that. It'll be good to go #9. Somewhat disappointing, but day #2 is full of picks. Tomorrow is our day. Sleep on it.

With the 51st pick America's teams trades the pick to the buffalo Bills.....DAMN IT!!!

Hey Steam long time, 2 possible Cowboys picks are off the board (Darcel Mcbath and Pat White) So like Steam said...Do the Cowboys trade Down??? I personally hope not

Call them what you want, but the Patriots are having the best draft so far. When Delmas went off the board, Dallas should have traded up. I predict a trade down now.

The Lame-triots have 4 2nd round picks...WTF??

Im at ESPN zone in DC. there is WIFI access here...(damn this place is expensive) Phil Loadholt from OU is still on the board but its still early on the round. Patrick Turner WR from USC is still available so those wanting a WR dont lose hope.

Robiskie went to the Brownies so there goes the 2 guys I was hoping the Cowboys would get. Does Jerry stay put with the 51st pick or does he try to move up???

ok the 2nd round started. Louis Delmas and patrick Chung are goners thanks to the lions and the lame-triots. So if your thinking safety like I was who the cowboys take???

There is also the Possibility that the Cowboys take Brian Robiskie but its still early in the round.

I'll be at espn zone in wash DC but im also thinking about taking my laptop to do some live blogging.
