New York Jets Pass On Miles Austin

The New York Jets decided not to spend the money–and the second-round draft pick, on Dallas Cowboys third receiver Miles Austin.

With the deadline approaching this week to sign players like Austin, the Jets have all but conceded that they couldn’t afford–or rather did not want to pay–Austin as much as the Cowboys likely would have matched because they are well under the salary cap.

Keeping Austin certainly is not something to pout about. He certainly could have a break-out season if he sees more passes come his way. He told New York Jets brass that if they get him the ball, he will catch it. I like that level of confidence.
