Dallas Cowboys 2009 Schedule Released

Posted by: thelandryhat

The Dallas Cowboys will open the 2009 season against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the first game in the new stadium will be against the New York Giants on Sept. 20 in a Sunday night prime time game.

The schedule is as difficult as it appeared last year, when the Cowboys ended 9-7 and out of the playoffs. Some big games outside the division will be against the Chargers, Panthers, and Falcons. ESPN disagrees with me and says the Cowboys have the 11th toughest schedule.

I haven’t reviewed every schedule, but I am sure the Cowboys schedule ranks in the top 6 toughest schedules. They also have six of primetime television games, which is great.

Here is the full schedule from NFL.com:

Dallas at Tampa Bay 1 pm Sept 13

Dallas hosts New York, Sept. 20, 8:20 p.m.

Dallas hosts Carolina, Monday night Sept 28

Dallas at Denver, Oct 4, 4:15 p.m.

Week 6 Bye

Dallas hosts Seattle, Sun. Nov 1, 1 p.m.

Dallas at Philadelphia, Nov. 8, primtime 8:20 p.m.

Dallas at Green Bay, Nov. 15, 4:15 p.m.

Dallas hosts Washington, Nov. 22, 1 p.m.

Dallas at New York Giants, Dec. 6, 4:15 p.m.

Based on last year’s schedule the ‘Boys have the 11th toughest schedule in the league but that schedule is much tougher that what it is. Everyone has to step it up or else jerry is going to blow up the whole team by year’s end.

The NFL knows where their bread is buttered. They scheduled us with a lot of the afternoon games, which is good. I wish we had more Monday night games, though. They gave the Browns how many MNF games last year? It seemed like they were on every week. I was most interested to see how many prime-time games the Bears got with Jay Cutler coming to town, but there weren’t that many, either. Does anybody know who’s getting the most exposure this year?

  3. 3. The Truth Says:

The Cowboys “officially” are getting the most, with 6 prime time games.  There are 5 night games and the Thanksgiving game…

I wouldn’t put too much weight on that ESPN thing, either. The Chargers were better than their record showed and the Chiefs are going to be much better than they were last year.

I think the sunday night games are the new “monday night” games. I prefer sunday night to monday night. ESPN’s broadcast is just so bland and you cant beat Madden.

Wow, so when we have a tough December, and maybe things don’t go our way, going possibly 2-2… I suppose all the media (and some fans alike) are going to jump down the Boys’ throats?

Damn we get tough ones to end the year. If we fire on all cylinders though, we can go in strong and come out stronger.

i’ve been saying this for quite some time, and after looking at the schedule, i’ll say it again……we better run the football this year or we be in big trouble………we got all the weapons in place. we look like we can be a more ball control, ground game grind it out offense, that still has the big hit weapons……..i think we can compete for the division if we do this. if we pass and run like we did last year, we’ll be 3rd or even in the basement of our division. that will be a fact. if we run, and often, this offense can be very productive to win games.
