Dallas Cowboys Leadership Void: Enter DeMarcus Ware?

I can count the number of times on one hand that I have seen DeMarcus Ware get mad on or off the field. It’s zero.

So, this is why I am a bit surprised to read this blog post that has Ware promising that he’ll be a vocal leader this season. As the post points out, Ware was not even a team captain last year. He surely will be this year.

The Cowboys certainly need a vocal leader in the locker room. But can Ware fill that position? How much can he do and still be mentally prepared for each game?

This is going to be a very, very interesting season for the Dallas Cowboys.

I know this is off topic but dont forget the schedule gets released tonight on NFL network and ESPN.

Every Cowboys year is interesting, it's what makes the brand.

But I don't think we'll have Ellis too much longer. All he cares about is getting paid and with so many teams switching to the 3-4 this year, it'd be a great time to get him off our hands!

And as for Ware? How many people have now vowed to be leaders this off season?

I agree Dan. It is hard to see such a soft spoken guy be a vocal leader. I think Bradie James is still the voice, but with Brooking also back there with Ware and Ellis, there is one hell of a group of LB's. It is hard to see anyone but James being the VOCAL LEADER though.

I think the defense will be ok though if the offense can get going again. Sure they need a player here and there to fill in some voids, but I think it can be done in the draft.

I think the leadership thing is going to have to come from the top and kind of how Coughlin handled it with the Giants a couple of years ago. IT seems to me after hearing Terrance Newman discuss this issue that it was always more of a chemistry issue than a leadership issue. I made a post a while back in the forum on Terrance Newman discussing this very thing, and it just seems to me that it is something that the coaches are going to have to deal with. Evidently Coughlin handled it right a couple of years ago because they went from pretty much non contenders to SuperBowl Champions after a little loosening up. I don't think it can all be placed on one mans shoulders, but if Ware thinks he can be a Strahan type of leader? He can try I guess. It will be weird to see though I will admit.

Off topic here Dan but I just wanted you guys to know where the schedule will be released and that it will be released tomorrow(TUES) at 7PM Eastern on NFL.com and NFL Network will have a 2 hour segment on the schedule at that time. ALSO, I found a website that is made up mostly of Dallas Cowboys season ticket holders, and the site is giving away tickets to a game. All you have to do is sign in and make one forum post. Here is the link. Hopefully I win them, but I thought I would be nice and let you all in on the secret. As it is right now, the site has about 80 members I think I had seen there, so the chances of winning are not too bad.
