New York Jets Wait On Offer For Miles Austin

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Miles Austin left New York without an offer from the New York Jets.

Austin, who is the Cowboys’ third receiver and holds more value with the departure of Terrell Owens, visited the Jets yesterday. There has been no word of an offer or deal the two have agreed upon.

If the Jets do take Austin, they would have to give up a second-round pick to the Cowboys, giving them back-to-back picks in the second round. The Cowboys could use those picks to trade up into the first round but it won’t get them too high. If the Cowboys do move up in the draft, I’d like to see them pick a wide receiver.

The Jets ended their pursuit of Miles Austin. I guess we made it clear that they were not going to be able to come up with the money

And Haynesworth is going to flop in Washington. Mark my words. I love it.

Wow harrison's deal is actually cheap compared to Haynesworth's.

a bit out of topic but now that harrison's deal is done and when do you think we should se demarcus deal? btw he got a 6 yr 51.7 millions with 20 million guaranteed

I am still scratching my head wondering how the Jets are going to outbid the Boys..since the Jets are over the salary cap..and the Boys are 14 mil under..,
If the Boys don't match..it will show they are not interested in Austin but want the draft pick..Interesting..

AMEN Frank, well said.

Miles Austin is in his fourth year. He's been in Dallas, where he's played behind TO and Roy Williams. The kid is young, talented, and if you look at his combine results... He out lifted everybody. So not only is he fast, he's strong. He's got heart and he's not a trouble maker. What else can you ask for. Why would you give him up for possibly some receiver that has just got outta college. Stop being stupid and keep him. Mr.Jones knows... he's not stupid enough to let Miles Austin go. The kids got talent.

Hey rich, Love it when a Cowboys hatter comes to a Cowboys web sight to see whats up. I can only assume your team sucks and you have nothing to read about.

America's Team...what a joke !

But Erik, How good is a badass (if he is) receiver when he's on the sidelines, hurt. Not very. Now one could argue if Austin wasn't on special teams he would be less likely to get hurt. That may be. Now how good are any of our receivers be if they don't have to cover the deep ball. Miles Austin could be a great dimension to the offense, causing safeties to either drop back to cover him or risk getting beat. It'll keep the defense honest at least and will help elevate our run game. I like Austin, I hope he stays, never know what you're going to get in the draft and I'd like to think we know what we're getting with Austin. We're getting decent hands with a potential deep threat, something that will help us utilize Romo's arm, which I don't believe he gets a ton of credit for.

gphizzle, he has proven he has the talent to be great. well the only way you can beat double coverage is by outrunning the DBs..roy williams isnt that fast and crayton is slower than him..we need speed to keep those safetys deep so that way we can run the ball more..T.O isnt here anymore so they are going to put as many people as they can in the box..we need Miles to keep the pressure out of Roy and to help us run the ball..and the kid has heart and desire thats more then i can say for crayton, hurd, roy and stanback

let him go. he's not proven anything so far. could he even beat out crayton for the #2 slot? who knows. there is more to it than speed. take the #2 and package it with a #4 or #5 and move up to get Hakeem Nicks or Kenny Britt

I hope the cowboys match the offer. Miles is unproven but there is a much smaller learning curve for Miles Austin than any rookie in the draft. I doubt the Jets offer will be too high.  Now the thought of having to 2nd round picks sound pretty good but the Cowboys better make the right choice.
