DeMarcus Ware Still Deal-LESS

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 8 Comments

By MBIIIEffect It appears as though there may be a bright side to this draft that we just had.   Everyone is screaming about how awful our draft was. Let them scream.   One thing that we know about these guys is that they sure as hell won’t be making big money right off the bat.   That’s where DeMarcus Ware comes into the picture. Some of the money that could have been given to a second-round pick could eventually end up in his pocket.   While a new deal hasn’t been finalized yet, Ware seems to be anything but [...]

Dallas Cowboys Draft Reviews: Manuel Johnson and Kevin Ogletree

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 46 Comments

By MBIIIEffect With the last pick in their draft, the Dallas Cowboys went with former Oklahoma wide receiver Manuel Johnson. The guy is largely unexciting, boasting a pedestrian 4.5 40-yard dash and standing 6 feet tall. He also has the smallest hands of any wide receiver in this year’s NFL Draft. Yawn. He’s neither the consistent target that I was petitioning for in Brian Robiskie, nor is he the elusive, deep threat that a lot of this site’s readers wanted so badly. But former Virginia wide receiver Kevin Ogletree could be the answer to some of your prayers. I’ve had [...]

Dallas Cowboys Draft Free Safety Michael Hamlin

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 23 Comments

The Dallas Cowboys now have two Hamlins in the secondary. It was a bit surprising to see Michael Hamlin fall to the fifth round, but the Clemson free safety did and the Cowboys snagged him. The only wide receiver the Cowboys grabbed is Manuel Johnson, from Oklahoma. This guy is small, but some scouts believe he has as much talent as some of the third round guys who were taken at his position.

Dallas Cowboys Take Quarterback Stephen McGee

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 9 Comments

Pat White was long gone. So that left the Dallas Cowboys with Stephen McGee as one their first 4th round pick. McGee, a Texas A&M quarterback, is best known in Texas for upsetting the Texas Longhorns twice in his career. This guy is not known for his arm. He also had shoulder surgery and missed most of the 2008 season. But he was the Aggies top guy, and won leadership awards on the team. He was well-liked in Texas. But he is certainly a major work in progress.

NFL Draft and the Dallas Cowboys

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 19 Comments

I will be kayaking all afternoon so I won’t be back for most of the draft. Use the comments section to bark and roar about who the Dallas Cowboys take with No. 51. When I return, I’ll likely have an interview with a guy who won a contest to spend the day with Jerry Jones in the draft war room. It should be interesting, and we might get some exclusive information about what the guys say in the room about the draft pick. I predict the Cowboys will draft a safety first, and I doubt there is a ton of [...]

If Philadelphia Eagles Land Anquan Boldin, Cowboys in Trouble

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 12 Comments

The Philadelphia Eagles are showing interest in embattled Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Anquan Boldin. I will be the first to say that if the Eagles do get Boldin—and I have this very troubled feeling that they will—the Dallas Cowboys, and quite frankly, every team in the NFL is in deep doo doo. I don’t like the Eagles. I am not trying to fluff their feathers. I hate every darn player on that team. In fact, I only dislike the Washington Redskins more, and it is barely more. Both teams make me cringe. With that said, I don’t have the same [...]

Dallas Cowboys 2009 Draft List Is Scary Bad

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 39 Comments

I’m really concerned, folks. The Dallas Cowboys did some house cleaning this off season and got rid of a safety,  some cornerbacks, and some linebackers. But they also lost their top draft pick in a trade with the Detroit Lions.  This leaves the Cowboys waiting for 50 drafted players before they get to pick. On their draft list of visitors to Valley Ranch, there are only three safeties. Now, there is probably a majority of fans who believe safety will be the first position the Cowboys attack. They asked Luis Delmas, Darcel McBath and Michael Hamlin to visit. Delmas looks to [...]

Dallas Cowboys NFL Draft Review: Linebackers, Wide Recievers, Safeties and Quarterbacks

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 17 Comments

BY MBIIIEffect If there’s one thing to know about the NFL Draft, it’s that there are no sure things.   For every Ryan Leaf, there’s a Tony Romo: teams just don’t know how things are going to work out.   This past week, the Dallas Cowboys got one last look at a hanful of players that could be the latest to wear the coveted star as a 2009 draft pick.   You can read the list as a whole here. We looked at five linebackers, four wide receivers, three safeties, two quarterbacks and offensive linemen, as well as one tight end and [...]

Dallas Cowboys 2009 Schedule Could Save Wade Phillips

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 20 Comments

By MBIIIEffect Wade Phillips, as easygoing and agreeable as he is, has been a polarizing figure for the Dallas Cowboys over the last 2 seasons. Sure, he’s led the Cowboys to a 22-11 record, fifth-best among NFL coaches behind Bill Belichick, Tom Coughlin, Mike Tomlin and Jeff Fisher. Not too shabby. But each of those coaches has playoff wins; Phillips does not. Phillips is lucky that, for now, he has Jerry Jones on his side for one more season. But he’s also lucky with the way the 2009 schedule has fallen for him. If you look at the first seven [...]

Dallas Cowboys Want Miles Austin Signed

AUTHOR: | IN: Cowboys | COMMENTS: 22 Comments

Today is the deadline to sign restricted free agents Sam Hurd and Miles Austin. It appears neither are going to take their tenders, but the Fort Worth paper believes the Cowboys are trying to sign at least Austin to a multi-year deal. I just hope they don’t shove him Patrick Crayton-like money. The guy hasn’t proven a whole lot to me, but I do see potential in him. I just haven’t been impressed with much that he has done in silver and blue. We had three rookies–Felix Jones, Martellus Bennett and Tashard Choice–outperform him, and Jones didn’t even play half [...]
