Dallas Cowboys Continue To Clean House
One day after ESPN reports that Terrell Owens will be released, the Dallas Cowboys announce that they are cutting ties with safety Roy Williams. Williams, who was the Cowboys top pick in the 2002 draft, made an immediate impact on a team that Jerry Jones was desperately trying to rebuild into a championship team. A few years later he hired Bill Parcells to make the woeful Cowboys into champions, and the mission failed. So did Roy Williams. Once feared for his hard hits, he always had trouble covering receivers. Sure, he won some games for the Cowboys and he was [...]
Where Does Terrell Owens Go Now?
According to Arrowhead Addict, T.O. now stands for To Oakland. It makes perfect sense. Al Davis is a nut case and he is also good friends with Jerry Jones. It is surprising the two buddies couldn’t have worked out a trade; the Cowboys do need a safety. Bodog betting has the odds of where Owens may end up: Oakland Raiders 7/2 Washington Redskins 4/1 New York Jets 6/1 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 13/2 New England Patriots 13/2 Tennessee Titans 13/2 Miami Dolphins 8/1 Philadelphia Eagles 50/1 Field (any other team) 5/2
Is Roy E. Williams Ready To Be A Star?
With the news that Terrell Owens is gone, the Dallas Cowboys thrust Roy E. Williams into the spotlight. He officially becomes the No. 1 reciever for the Dallas Cowboys. Can he handle the pressure? There’s not much to work on because his career in Detroit, which showed flashes of huge talent, wasn’t exactly incredible. But, there is one thing Williams said at the end of the season that sort of left me thinking that this guy cares about winning and team chemistry. When asked about his lackluster half season with the Cowboys, Williams said just give him one training camp [...]
The Change Has Begun: Terrell Owens is Gone
I am awake. I just have been swamped with life. So, when I become busy, the Dallas Cowboys decide to make one of the biggest changes in the history of the team, possibly as big as abruptly cutting ties with icon coach Tom Landry, the namesake of this blog. Terrell Owens is getting the boot. We could debate the pros and cons of this all night long. Many of you already have. ESPN has the story sourced here. The release really hurts the Dallas Cowboys in the salary cap, $9 million gone. The decision is important for several reasons: It [...]
Cowboys sign another linebacker
The Dallas Cowboys signed another linebacker today, this one lesser known who did not even play football in 2008. Matt Stewart signed a one-year contract and was released by the Arizona Cardinals during their final roster cuts in 2008. He is 29 and the Atlanta Falcons picked him in the fourt round of the draft in 2001. He played four seasons there and three in Cleveland. He played in 93 games and had one interceptions and eight sacks. Stewart adds depth and assures that the Cowboys will NOT be acquiring Ray Lewis.
Cowboys sign Keith Brooking, Not Ray Lewis
The Dallas Cowboys signed 11-year linebacker Keith Brooking to $6 million, three year deal. Although Brooking is a quality linebacker, he’s know Ray Lewis, however, Brooking comes at a great bargain for the Cowboys. This is obviously a Wade Phillips move, because he coached for the Falcons with Brooking. Let’s take a look at Brooking’s stats tomorrow and see how he will fit with this team.
