Julius Peppers Wants To Play For Dallas Cowboys?

by Cowboys

Julius Peppers continues to push for the Carolina Panthers to trade him, and he’s put two teams on his wishlist: the Dallas Cowboys and the New England Patriots.

ESPN has a report about Pepper’s interest in the two teams. This is not breaking news because I reported that Peppers had interest with the Cowboys about a month ago. But is he a good fit for this team?

The Cowboys priority is signing sack leader DeMarcus Ware. The Cowboys still have Greg Ellis and Anthony Spencer. Do they really need Julius Peppers, who is asking to be released from a team that had the second seed in the NFC playoffs this year, and one of the better running attacks in football?

The Cowboys would be better off securing depth for the offensive line and secondary and hoping for a gem in the late rounds of the 2009 draft with any other picks.

Julius Peppers is not a guy the Cowboys need to make it to the next level.

Without a doubt we need to run the ball.  We have a "triple threat" backfield with Barber, Felix, and Choice.  I hope Miles becomes the player we want him to be.  He is built like TO and has a lot of potential.  Hopefully Garrett learns how to use the players on this team.
I dont want MJones but I think at some point we need another WR.  I dont care for Crayton all that much.  He drops critical passes and doesnt have much speed.

and i said that i thought maybe mjones would be considered only if we have injury problems, which we've had in the past, but if those guys can stay healthy, those will be the wrs corp......no doubt.

you are right SR78.......and i have always said that too.

Guys, we are not going to find an outsider to come in and pick up where T.O. left off. PERIOD     ...Jerry has said it over and over and it is one thing that I believe. He wants the young recivers to step up. He will add more.IN THE DRAFT, AND LATE.

You can only tie up so much money at one damn position, and right now the defense is due. Between the dead cap from T.O. and the money Roy Williams is due, there is about 20 million or ALMOST 20 percent tied up in WR's alone on the roster if not more. No Anquan Boldin, No Jay Cutler at QB, No big names at all, and NO MORE TROUBLE. Matt Jones is no different than Pacman JONES. Garrett is going to have to chang his gameplan to fit this roster. No more diaper changes. THAT IS THE CHANGE. IT IS UP TO GARRETT AND ROMO AND THE ROSTER THAT IS IN PLACE NOW.

DaveDF, you have it right. I belive in that. If it doesn't get done that way this year. IF DALLAS DOESN'T WIN A PLAYOFF GAME THIS YEAR WITH THAT, GARRETT AND PROBOBLY PHILLIPS TOO, can kiss their butts goodbye.

AND I'LL SAY IT AGAIN. "LIVE BY THE PASS, DIE BY THE PASS".  SIGNED SR78

i dont get why everyone is expecting matt jones to dallas because he is an arkansas alumni. jerry jones has only drafted 1 arkansas alumni in 20 years- Felix Jones

Yea, AND pay him in cocaine. That way it doesn't go toward the salary cap. He might get to play a game or two before he is suspended.

I think Matt jones could be worth the risk. Point blank if anyone of our WR's get injured then were screwed royally. Especially considering neither of our three young WR's have made it through a whole season healthy.

and i always loved the bad ass attitude micheal irvin brought to the table.......he lived his alterego on the football field and in his everyday life. he grew up hard and fought like hell to be a good football player. can't argue with him.  mjones could have that little edge too??????

we also have a young and up coming te in the passing game with bennett, and i love the way the speculation is on felix to be an all out weapon running and passing. and lets not forget our main weapon in jason witten.......i think we're fine. IF and i mean big IF.......we run the hell out of the football with our backs and get this heat off romo???????

3-threat, yes personally i am comfortable with roy and austin as our starters. crayton plays a good slot man. hurd and stanback will have to produce, which i think they are both ready to take the next step also. i did say provided they all stay healthy? this is the way i think jerry is looking at it too, but i could be wrong. you are right about the matt jones thing if we do see some injury problems, and i'd be all for it. this alter boy shit playing football in the nfl is rediculous, guys, and everyone damn well knows it. hell, i remember when i played ball, our coaches would have a gleem in their eyes when we had a little bad or nasty streak in us. my coach always said; " if i want alterboys, i'll go to church, i want smash you in the mouth, kick someones ass, and damn nasty sobs."  in his mind you had to have a little edge to pack a punch. i was coached well, and i do believe he was right. everyone thought roger staubach was a goody 2shoes, well he was top notch in his charachter, but he was bad ass, military trained in hand to hand combat and was a fearless leader. it takes that meantality out there to succeed. mjones has a nasty streak and may only get one more chance, so i'd be ok if we took a chance on him only if we really needed to

Dave, are you comfortable with the WRs we have?  Im not.  I have high hopes for Austin and Hurd but we need another solid number 2 and Crayton is not the guy.  And are we sure Roy is gonna be the WR we are expecting him to be?Now I am not saying I want to take a chance on Matt Jones but I am saying I do see another WR becoming a Cowboy before the season starts.  I want to point out that there is a chance Matt Jones will become a Cowboy due to both Matt and Jerry are Razorback Alumni, Matt has tons of Talent, Jerry likes to gamble, and like I already said we need another WR.  Plus Matt will be suspended for the start of the season which gives Miles and Sam plenty of reps to prove what they have and if they dont prove they can handle it we have another WR.

the dirty one is right. peppers is a frickin lunitic? the panthers are a qb AWAY FROM TAKIN IT ALL THE WAY????? why would you jump ship? you got a franchise tag guarenteeing you to be paid among the top 5 players at your position, and next year could be un-capped????? come on why would'nt you stay one more year?????

I dont there is enough cap room for Peppers and Ware. Peppers would have to take a HUGE paycut if he wants to put on a cowboys uniform and also I dont the Cowboys are going to give that 2nd rd pick.

At this point everybody wants to play for the Cowboys. To say you want to play for Dallas or in New England is a no-brainer like saying you want to play for any other marquee franchise in any other sport.

Peppers is just a freaking idiot for wanting out of Carolina.

i don't think jerry will bring in any more wrs unless there is an injury. he seems very committed in miles austin and his chances as a starter. he needs the reps if he's gonna make it, and bringing in a older or another vet will stunt that. jerry will not risk that unless again, there is an injury.

Not gonna happen.  He is going to NE.

Matt Jones coming to Dallas would probably be more likely.
