Zach Thomas Levels Charges Against Embattled Dallas Cop
You know the cop who interfered with Houston Texans Ryan Moats, who was rushing to the hospital for his dying mother and retained until after her death? Well, apparently that same officer had a run-in with Zach Thomas’ wife. You can read the story here. On July 27, 2008, while her husband was at training camp with the Cowboys in Oxnard, Calif., Maritza Thomas was pulled over by Powell for an illegal U-turn near NorthPark Center. Maritza Thomas was issued five tickets by Powell, four of which were later dismissed. Thomas was handcuffed, placed in the back of a police [...]
Dallas Cowboys Will Not Sign Michael Vick
Folks, there is just no way on Earth that the Dallas Cowboys will show any interest in Michael Vick. If they do, I very well may fold this blog and call it quits. Michael Vick, for one, is not going to play anywhere in the NFL as a backup, especially a third backup. The Cowboys just signed Jon Kitna, and believe it or not, he is fully capable of winning games if Tony Romo is injured. Michael Vick brings baggage, a ton of baggage, that the Dallas Cowboys do not need. And let’s not forget that not only did this [...]
NFL Outsiders Interview The Landry Hat
I was interviewed this week by the NFL Outsiders over at MVN. You can read the interview here. Apparently, some of their roundtable guys believe the Dallas Cowboys had one of the better offseasons. Well, it depends on how they measured it. We ridded the team of Terrell Owens and Pacman Jones, and we picked up a safety and added a decent, but old, linebacker from the Atlanta Falcons and a younger guy from the Chargers. I am not really sure that supports the title as “offseason winners” because some would think dropping a top-10 receiver in the game is [...]
Speculation: Dallas Cowboys Like Pat White?
Pat White, the West Virginia quarterback, is apparently impressing scouts at the combine. They are impressed because not only does he have potential to be an NFL quarterback, but he can also play some wide receiver. As the DMN reports here, the wildcat offense became popular this past season. With the popularity of the Wildcat formation growing, White’s status has improved, and Cowboys owner and GM Jerry Jones sounded as if he might take a chance on a third quarterback with White’s type of skills. “We may want to do some things in our offense this year with a third [...]
Dallas Cowboys Host Oakland Raiders On Thanksgiving
The NFL released today who will play on Thanksgiving this year. The first game will put the Detroit Lions against the Green Bay Packers. Then the Dallas Cowboys will host the Oakland Raiders. The Raiders haven’t played on Turkey Day in 38 years. The final night game will have the New York Giants facing the Denver Broncos.
Wonderlic Scores Show Wide Receivers Not So Smart
The Wonderlic Test scores have leaked and it appears the wide receivers are the dumbest of the bunch. Even Michael Crabtree couldn’t score above 18, which is what most teams prefer a wide receiver to score on the 50-question speed test. Georgia’s Matt Stafford comes out looking like a genius. Terence Newman Backtracks On Tony Romo Criticism
Terence Newman, in an interview with a television station, placed some criticism on the shoulders of quarterback Tony Romo. He implied that Romo’s Hollywood status hurt him this year and that he didn’t think he put enough into his game as he did in the 13-3 season. The comments sent shockwaves through Dallas Cowboys fans across the nation, because the often soft-spoken Newman seemed to outright call out his quarterback. But he’s turning away from those comments and he is now saying they are being misconstrued. Apparently, Newman and Romo played golf this week–a good sign no matter what. “I [...]
Oh Golly, I hate idiot bloggers. I hate it when some douchebag gets on his computer and pretends he has a source within an NFL organization and writes this fictional trade story that relates to one of our enemies: The Washington Redskins. I don’t even want to send you to the site because the idiot is just trying to drive traffic, and I am not even sure why I am giving this the attention, but I am forced to address it just because it’s so stupid. Read it here. The deal would see Jay Cutler, Tony Scheffler, and Cleveland’s third [...]
Julius Peppers Wants To Play For Dallas Cowboys?
Julius Peppers continues to push for the Carolina Panthers to trade him, and he’s put two teams on his wishlist: the Dallas Cowboys and the New England Patriots. ESPN has a report about Pepper’s interest in the two teams. This is not breaking news because I reported that Peppers had interest with the Cowboys about a month ago. But is he a good fit for this team? The Cowboys priority is signing sack leader DeMarcus Ware. The Cowboys still have Greg Ellis and Anthony Spencer. Do they really need Julius Peppers, who is asking to be released from a team [...]
Dallas Cowboys Trading For Jay Cutler?
I ask this question because it was asked of me by a coworker today and it turned into a long-winded response that I felt I had to bring to this blog tonight. The coworker, a sports writer, asked me if I thought the Dallas Cowboys should trade Tony Romo for Jay Cutler, who has asked for a trade in Denver. My answer was swift: No. Why? Well, the first thing out of my mouth was “What has Jay Cutler done for the Denver Broncos?” Has he won a playoff game? Has he taken the Broncos to a division title? Has [...]
